Question about Sony Computers & Internet
I am using Sony Laptop series VGN-CR36G. My laptop is not able to read / write any CD/DVD. Everytime when i insert a CD/DVD (which is not blank), driver treats like a blank CD and prompts a message like '702 MB is free' same for the blank CD. Please provide solution to resolve this issue ASAP.
Have you tried using an disc optical lens cleaner? Try that first. Unfortunately, these things do just quit sometimes, just like Hard Drives. You may have to just resort to using external usb drive or replace the internal drive.

Tips for a great answer:

Put in an ordinary CD and play to notice if the CD is detected or is trying to read- you can hear spinning noise. If so but there is no files read then the possibility that the laser head can be defective or dirty.
It is ideal to clean manually the laser head eye using a cotton bud with gentle pressure on the lens eye.
If drive does not work try reinstalling the drivers.
If this wont work the drive can be faulty and needs a replacement.
