I had same prob - after buying an LG Smartphone (SP) to replace my Samsung Mantra flip phone (FP), signal strength was so low that i couldn't use it except as a pc on wifi, so i had the FP reactivated. After ~ 6 mos sprint upgraded the tower and i had the SP reactivated. Now i get 1-4 bars, but if only 1-2 bars voice is sometimes nearly unintelligible... You CAN buy a signal booster and use it in your residence but the cost is hundreds of $. Or you can do research and try to find a SP which has high signal sensitivity. The Samsung Mantra FP has very good signal sensitivity and worked fine even before sprint upgraded the tower... the LG SP has much less inherent signal sensitivity and so needs a stronger signal to function. But there's more to the story...

If you have home WiFi you can switch to T-Mobile and use their WiFi option with your SP to send and receive cell calls via WiFi when your SP WiFi is enabled & connected. I suspect this is what I'll do myself when I get tired of the poor voice quality my sprint LG SP is now delivering. And my guess is that the WiFi option will be offered by all carriers evenually. T-Mobil is just ahead of the curve... IMO.

SOURCE: Signal strength?

Maybe a firmware update / flash will do the trick. If you have the datacable and software you can do it - or a service center can do it - it should not cost more than $30

SOURCE: Quite often my Nokia 5800 will lose signal

have you tried to restart your phone? if not, kindly try it and if your phone is still the same way you can try restoring it to its factory setting by clicking the menu-->settings-->phone-->phone management-->factory settings and select yes or try to master reset your mobile by just dial *#7370# and accept but before that i suggest that you should back up your file first.

Hope this helps.

How to increase connectivity and strength of 2G and 3G network

@Surendra

It's based on dBM and asu and not the bars you actually see. Even if you may see fewer bars you could have equal quality. The phones, based on different OS may be calibrated a little differently. It's best to contact your service provider and verify....

1. Your SIM is properly programmed.
2. Your PRL is updated
3. You have a recent SIM

HI, If its a Internet link which u are speaking about, Please connect the LAN to the System with LAN wire and check the speed. the Problem will be due to low connectivity issue. Wireless router will not increase the bandwidth, it can able to provide the same or below the bandwidth which it received from the ISP.

How do i increase wi-fi signal strength

There are only a few ways to increase signal strength ..move closer to the source (the router) , get a bigger antenna or boost the signal...you can boost the signal with foil in the shape of a parabola around the router antenna or make one out of a vegatable strainer that will plug into the laptop(this one works best )especially for picking up your neighbors WIFI

I have a poor signal how can i make it better nokia 5230 so i can call on my phone

First of all,put the SIM card into another phone which you can be sure that there are no faults with it and check whether you're getting a good enough signal strength than your nokia 5230 phone.
If you're not, then its not a fault with your nokia 5230.
If your area has a poor signal strength from your current service provider, move into another service provider who has more signal strength within your area if you can.

Nokia 1600 is dead how to repair it

If your phone appears to have problems with power, the problem may be with the phone, the battery, or the charger.
  • The first thing to try is to connect the phone to its charger. Connect the charger to a power source, wait for a few moments, and then try to turn the phone on.
If the phone still won't power on, please perform the following checks:
  • Fully charge the battery according to the instructions presented in the user guide.
  • Remove and re-insert the battery according to the instructions presented in the user guide.
  • Check that you are using a Nokia battery and charger compatible with your phone model. You can check compatibility from the Battery Compatibility Chart and Charger Compatibility Chart.
  • If you have access to another battery and charger of the same type as yours, try substituting them to determine if the issue is with the phone, the battery, or the charger.
If you are unable to test your phone or it still won't power on, please bring it to the nearest Nokia Care point for inspection. You can find Care point addresses from the drop-down menu to the right.
My phone is always low on power
If your phone appears to have problems retaining power, the problem may be with the phone, the battery, or the charger.
  • Check that you are using an original Nokia battery and charger compatible with your phone model from the Battery Compatibility Chart and Charger Compatibility Chart. If your battery features a hologram label, you can authenticate that the battery is an original Nokia product with our Check Your Battery service.
  • If you have access to another battery and charger of the same type as yours, try substituting them to determine if the issue is with the phone, the battery, or the charger.
  • Even high-quality batteries like Nokia's will eventually lose power retention capacity. If it is time to replace your battery with a new one, be sure to purchase an original Nokia battery from an authorized Nokia dealer.
If you are unable to test your phone, charger, or battery or need further assistance, please bring them to a Nokia Care point for inspection. You can find Care point addresses from the drop-down menu to the right.
My calls break up/are dropped
Dropped calls or low sound quality during calls can result from low signal strength or momentary gaps in network coverage, either at your end or the other end of the connection.
In most cases, your operator or service provider is the best source of assistance with issues regarding signal strength.
  • Signal strength is indicated by the signal indicators at the left side of the phone's display, these indicators move up as the strength of the signal increases and down as the signal decreases.
  • To increase your phone's signal strength, try moving your phone slightly, or move towards a window if you're calling from inside a building.
If you continuously experience low signal strength in a certain area, it may be that network coverage is insufficient there. Your operator or service provider can provide you with more information on network coverage.
If you believe that the problem may be with your phone instead of the network, please bring your phone to a Nokia Care point for inspection. You can find Care point addresses from the drop-down menu to the right.
My phone won't ring
Please try the following troubleshooting tips:
  • Ensure that you phone is on and that there is sufficient signal strength.
    • Signal strength is indicated by the signal indicators at the left side of the phone's display, these indicators move up as the strength of the signal increases and down as the signal decreases.
    • To increase your phone's signal strength, try moving your phone slightly, or move towards a window if you're calling from inside a building.
  • For some phone models, if there is a headset attached to the phone, it will not ring through the speaker, only through the headset. Detach the headset and retest the phone to determine if that resolves the issue.
  • If the phone's profile is set as "Silent", "Flight", "Online", or any other profile where ringing is silenced, it will not ring. Change the profile to the "General" or "Normal" profile and retest. Instructions for checking and changing your profile are included in your user guide.
  • Ensure that a ring tone has been enabled and the volume is not too low. Instructions for adjusting volume and selecting a ring tone are included in your user guide.
  • If call divert is activated, your calls may be going straight to voice mail without your phone ringing. Instructions for activating and inactivating call divert are included in your user guide. For assistance with voice mail, please contact your operator or service provider.
If your phone still won't ring, please bring it to a Nokia Care point for inspection. You can find Care point addresses from the drop-down menu to the right.
My phone won't send/receive messages
Email, text messaging, and multimedia/picture messaging must be supported by your contract with your operator or service provider. In addition, your phone must support these features and have the correct settings.
  • Check the types of messaging supported by your phone model. You can find this information in the user guide. Look for the terms SMS for text messaging and MMS for multimedia (picture/audio) messaging.
  • Contact your operator or service provider to check that email, text messaging, and/or multimedia (picture) messaging are included in your service contract. Also verify that roaming is supported when you are not within your home network.
  • Install messaging settings for your phone. You can download settings for free from our Setting service.
If you are still unable to send or receive messages, please bring your phone to a Nokia Care point for inspection. You can find Care point addresses from the drop-down menu to the right.
I want to recycle my phone and accessories
Just drop of your old mobile phone and accessories at any Nokia Care point. Nokia will send the old products to closest Nokia approved recycling company. Mobile phone recycling leads to both material and energy recovery from old devices, and helps ensure the proper disposal of harmful substances.
