SOURCE: how to clean air filter in HITACHI CP-X385

Hi there

Look at the bottom of the Projector , you'll see a thin grey line with two edges on it. That is the filter. Grip on the sides and gently pull it out.

You will need a new optic block assembley. This has been a common problem found in all brands of LCD projection type television sets.

Cause for this is fine dust and particles gets "cooked" onto special lenses and even on individual lcd panels. I haven't found a way to clean each optic peices back to original. I usually find the colored filters in most of them had changed to a brownish, hence blocking that color from getting through, leaving a pink, or bluish spot like hue, or even in some cases a starfeild like patern.

Only thing can be done is to search the Internet for a new or refurbished optic block assembly to your make and model.

In the shop I work for, I've seen literally hundreds of these sets, all brand who makes LCD projections, develop this kind of problem. I've exchanged optic blocks on everyone I've gotten since 2001 - 2002 and so far never seen one comming back with same problem twice.

If you are good with following instructions, then it maybe cheaper for you to purchase a service manual with all the parts blow up, access to "Service Man Mode" with all adjustment codes, then purchasing a new or rebuilt optic block assembly... (Some manufacturers will send you a different optic block assembly of wich you must enter the Service Man Mode (SSM), for making proper adjustments per advice from their techs).

Changing one can be a real chore, so it maybe in your favor to higher a competent tech who can do the job right at a good price. If you can't find a personal tech, then shop will be next in line, however it maybe a little expensive.

Tv doesnt turn on and the lamp bulb is blinking

Hi,

I recently replaced my lamp in my Hitachi 50VG825 TV and the red light was continually blinking for the lamp. The manual tells us to make sure that the lamp is screwed in tightly. I opened the covered and sure enough the screws needed to be tightened.

Try that and make sure you replace the tv cover. Hopefully this will work out for you like it did for me.
