    How do i delete bookmarks

You bookmarks are on the left sidebar.

Your Favorites Bar is the second line down on Safari. You click on "View" then you can click hide or show the favorites bar.

You can edit the Favorites Bar by two finger clicking the touch pad or right clicking the (Non Apple) mouse.
You can also drag the link to the trash can to remove it.

To put another link in the favorites bar, click on the link in the tool bar and drag it to the favorites bar.

How do I delete old Mac bookmarks

I assume you are speaking of browser bookmarks.
In Safari, you can use the "Reset Safari" option under the Safari menu, and choose bookmarks.
In Firefox, you can go to the bookmarks list, select all, and delete all.
If you are using another browser, the operation should be similar to Firefox.

How do I remove a bookmark from Safari

In bookmarks menu choose "show all bookmarks". Go to that folder and click on the one you want to remove. Backspace, it is gone. Drag it to the trash, it is gone. If it is in the Bookmarks bar under the toolbar, just move the bookmark into space and watch the puff of smoke. Goodbye bookmark.
