The company archives may hold information on the years particular models and serial number ranges were manufactured.

Are you sure that the i isn't a 1 ? From my research, I do not see any serial numbers with the letter i in it. Since this looks to be from 1977 or 78, I'd say there is a possibility of some wear on the numbers. Per TractorData.com, the serial number for your model, assuming this is a 1 instead of an i means that your tractor was made near the end of 1977. I cant give you an exact date but it is from the early 70s. That is when they were yellow. My educated guess on this is 1973. If you go to a Massey Ferguson dealer with your numbers they will gladly tell you what year it is exactly.

Climb up into the tractor's seat. Look below the lower left-hand side and lower right-hand side of the steering wheel panel for the serial number. Certain older Ferguson tractors have the serial number stamped to a plate that is mounted to one of these areas of the steering wheel panel.
