Your wireless Internet password is the encrypted security pass phrase that was set up when you installed your wireless router.

Your router allows you to access the Internet.
If you have access to more than one wireless network, you may need to remember multiple passwords.

If you happen to forget one password, you have two options: reset your password or locate the current password.

Windows 7 allows you to view the security characters of all your wireless network passwords.
Click the "Wi-Fi" network icon located on the Window's taskbar.


Right-click the name of your network's "SSID" name and select "Properties" from the drop-down menu.


Click the "Security Tab." The network security key is now visible but unreadable.


Click the "Show Characters" check box and this will reveal your wireless password.

A wireless network is comprised of a wireless router, a computer (or other wireless-enabled devices), a high-speed modem, and a subscription to an Internet Service Provider (ISP). Netgear is a popular manufacturer of wireless networking hardware that allows users to set up a secured wireless network. 3 Enter the router's username and password. A prompt will appear on the screen when you enter your router's address, requiring you to enter a username and password before you can access the router's settings page. The default username for Netgear routers is "username" and the password is "password." Because the textboxes are case-sensitive, you must enter both of these using all lowercase letters. Press "Enter" to log in to the router and begin changing its security settings.

4 Open the security settings menu. The router's home page has multiple links for changing settings. Find and click the "Security Settings" link to change the router's security settings.

5 Change the SSID, choose an encryption setting and create a password. The default name (or "SSID") of your wireless network will be "NETGEAR." Enter a new, memorable name for your wireless network to help detract would-be hackers from trying to access your router, as most novice computer users with unsecure networks do not know how to change the default network name or institute any other security features. Newer Netgear routers offer WPA or WPA-PSK encryption to secure your network, both of which provide high levels of security. Select either of these. encryption types and create a unique password. This will require all users to enter the password before they can log in to your wireless network. It is important that you create a complex password that has several characters, including numbers. Once you have created a password, click "Confirm Password" to save it. To exit the security settings menu and log off of the router, click "Save" or "Apply" to save the changes you made, then click "Logout" to exit the route

If you don't remeber the wireless security code, maybe you still remeber the user and password to access the web management interface of the router.
Then you have to connect the laptop to the router by using a network cable. Open a browser window, type in the IP adress of your router and check the wireless setup section. There you can find / modify the wifi security code.

If you don't know the router's IP adress, then open on your computer a ms-dos prompt and type the command
ipconfig /all

it will display your current IP adress, subnet mask and GATEWAY. The gateway adress is the router's IP adress that must be typed into the browser.

If you don't remember the user and password for accessing the router's web interface, please refer to the router's user manual in order to reset it to factory default configuration, and then proceed as for the first installation of the router.

You can configure it with below method. You can also configure it with below method.
Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link. http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.15.1 or http://192.168.2.1 If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it. Then it ask for user name and password. Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank. Then you can see configuration page of router. If you are still not able to access router with above ip then you need to RESET it for that press RESET button for 10 seconds it is in back side of router then all settings defaults..Then you can access it with above method. Then click on WAN settings set it as your internet service provider settings enable DHCP Then click on wireless and enable it. . Then click on wireless->wireless security->WEP security there is code password note down it or enter new password then save setting s and restart router. then you can connect wireless with new password. 1. Connect the computer to your Wireless router then using the internet explorer access the router gui 192.168.1.1 2. It is extremely important that you change the password for your router. Select a strong password using numbers and letters. This is the password that you will use to login and configure your router after this initial setup. +
3. Select a unique name for your wireless network. The name of your network is known as the SSID. This is what wireless users will use to identify which router and network they connect to.

The default username and password is "user". For the security settings, you need to setup WEP/WPA-PSK etc. Steps are outlined in the manual.

That's because you have to enter the username and password in order to access/change the security features of this router. There are default login/password entries required for security access within the router, even when it's set back to original factory settings.

Check your user manual for the default login information.
