Pedal slipping

Chances are the right hand clutch sprocket is failing. You can replace just the right hand side or the whole drive hub assembly. I usually find if the right hand side is gone, the left hand side is not too far behind. I will provide a link for the product I am referencing. Grease used for StairMaster 4400CL to fix grinding sounds

There are several types of grease that can be used for this machine. You can use a lithium grease on the hub and a 30 WT motor oil on the chains.

Both pedals slipping to floor as if no power was getting to it. screen reads stepper when first plugged in

I would start with checking your brushes in your alternator. If they are worn down, they will not make good contact. The resistance in this machine is provided by the alternator.
