Dead microwave! I have an older Kenmore microwave/hood combo model number 665.68610891 that has stopped working.  One minute all was well and the next - nothing.  At first I thought I had blown a fuse, but this was not the case.  Can it be repaired?  Is it worth it to pay Sears $75 just to diagnose the problem (it's almost 10 years old), or should I just spring for a new one around $200?  Thanks, Kevin B.

Hi Kevin

If your microwave oven doesn't seem to work at all, check these:
Fuses Usually, when your microwave oven doesn't work it all, the internal fuse (thermal fuse) is blown. This fuse protects both you and the oven. When it blows, you need to have a qualified appliance repair technician replace it.

Door switch If the fuse isn't the problem, check the door hooks and the door-release button. When these are broken, the door switch doesn't activate, so the oven can't work.

If still you are unable to diagnose the issue then it is recommended to call a local repair center for this to get fixed as Microwave usually have high voltage even when it is turned off.

Please do rate the solution as FixYa and revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

Kenmore Elite Microwave Model No: 79080373310 giving E-11 error code

I do not know what an E-11 code is on that unit. But the fact you say no buttons are working gives me a clue that you may have a bad touch panel. Could be a Goofed up Microprocessor on the board. A Lot of units will give a code for a bad pad. If an air pocket in a pad colapses, the microwave thinks you are pushing and holding down a pad, so it will give a error code. An E-11 code may mean a bad touch panel on your unit. Try to unplug the unit, give it a minute and plug it back in, try to set the clock first and see what it does. When setting the clock try all of the number pads and see if they all respond. If one doesnt that mey be your bad pad. Or if a number comes up on its ownwithout pushing it, that pad could be shorted.

Have a TE code showing on my kenmore elite microwave hood combo

At some place I saw that the TE error refers to the touch panel.
If you go to http://www.searspartsdirect.com/ and enter your full model number you can get parts list and buy parts and even get repair advice.
Link below shows how to replace a control panel on some model of microwave oven. In the video you will see a ribbon cable being removed. You might want to wipe the contacts of the ribbon with alcohol and put it back in to see if it helps with your problem.

Kenmore pizza microwave beeps constanly

This is not a solution, it is a clarification request, but it looks like FixYa took away that helpful option, too.

I would suggest you post a whole new help request and be sure to tell us:

1. The FULL model number from the tag in or on the microwave. A full Sears/Kenmore model number has 3 digits, a dot, then 8 more digits, such as ###.########

2. Let us know when it beeps. Is it only after cooking? While it's setting idle?

3. Next, let us know if the display has anything in it besides the normal clock time.

A good first step might be a hard reset, accomplished by unplugging the oven for a minute or two, plugging it back in, then resetting the clock.

I need an installation guide for a Kenmore microwave hood combo model # 80083?

Go to managemyhome.com and type in the model number under the "Manuals" link. There are several installation guides available to choose from in a .pdf (Adobe) format that you can download, or print for FREE. I hope this helps you.
