My daughter took the face off the fan, held the blades still for quite some time and let go. They didn't move at all. It smells like it is burning, it's hot and I tried a new outlet still doesn't work. I don't know much about mechanical stuff, so you'd need to go into detail or dumb it down...

Your daughter burnt out your fan motor windings. you have 2 options.
1. buy a new fan. at today's prices, this is your best & easiest option But, you have to learn to be a comparitive shopper. start by going to amazon.com & looking at the fans ,the fan prices and if you get free shipping or have to pay and how much 4 the shipping. Next, go to ebay.com and type the name & model of the fan you are interested in. you may get an operitunity to buy a used fan there at a reduced price. note this down on paper but remember that ebay usually has only 1 or 2 of these items , and if you come back 2 days later, the add is gone . Ebay has a buy it now price and an auction price. I hate auctions, because you have to wait 7 or 10 days for the auction to be over & you might not get the item if some one else outbids you and you dont get the item for 3 weeks after the auction first started. If you really dont need something & dont mind waiting a month, that might be fun for some people, but not me. I need something ,i want it yesterday.I dont need something,i forget about it altogether. get at least 3 prices before buying because that way ,you at least have some idea of what the item is going for.SERIOUS SHOPPERS, who only want to buy for bottom $, go to google.com--or -bing.com or-yahoo.com--or ask.com & type the make & model # of the item they are looking for a deal on into the search box. You might have to go to 15 or 20 web sites, but somewhere along all that
searching, you will find your item drastically discounted.
True example, I went to home depot & looked at a 2013 homelite,16 inch, 42 cc gasoline chain saw for $179.99 plus 6.35% sales tax. after about 3 hours searching on the internet with google and bing, I bought that saw ,advertised as being
factory reconditioned for $78.65 with free shipping to first time buyers. I got a brand new ,never run, not a scratch on it anywheres gas chain saw and saved $100.00 from home depots price. It was the same year, make and model as home depot's 179.99 saw ,delevered free to my door for $78.65

that is why i dont recommend that you attempt to replace the burnt out fan motor. repair parts distrributors charge you at least twice what they paid for the part. if the motor cost them $50.00 they want between $100.00 to $139.95 for it. and then ,you still need to pay the repairman his time & labor.
If you shop like i told you to, you can probably replace the fan with a new one ,for 1/2 of what you originally paid for it, through the power of internet search engines. PS also a good place to ask questions, get answers and learn things by reading previously writen articles about whatever you are inquiring about.
customer reviews at amazon.com are good to learn about something youthink you might buy. You find out if others love it or if it is a piece of junk. read both the good reviews and the bad reviews. I like to read the bad reviews first, to get an idea whats bad about the item, I may look for a higher quality brand if the cheap one has too many bad reviews.

Go to this link and find the dealer local to you; http://hamptonbayinfo.com/Product.aspx?pid=9eb435cd-4f97-4074-bdf3-630f1efd7a83&cid=791075 They should be able to either supply parts or tell you where to get them. SOURCE: Need fan blade.

I tried every link and selection on the WeatherWorks website in an attempt to find product information, but that was a waste of time. It's the least-friendly and least-useable website I've ever seen. For a replacement fan blade try contacting this aftermarket parts supply company (below). They seem to have every type of fan-blade imaginable: Electric Trading Co. PO Box 692, New York, NY 10013 Tel: (212) 226-0575 | Fax: (212) 941-1796 http://www.blowerwheel.com/ [email protected] (Although, to be honest, I think it wound be cheaper to buy a whole new window fan...)

Bosch next 500 plus burning smell in dryer

Sounds like to me, but I'm no expert, the heating element is "over-heating and not getting the m"air" it needs to cool down enough to keep from burning. Literally I mean burn because the way a drier works is there is a fan at the heating element to blow the heat from the element to dry the clothes and if the fan is filled with lint it can't blow much air across the element and causing it to have the burning smell. I would check the fan blades and those are usually connected directly to the drier drive motor. I wouldn't use the drier until issue is resolved for the reason being is you can burn out the element and have to replace it too. Hope this helps you in you quest to the repairs of you drier :o) Jesus loves you John 3:16-17 (KJV)

My handyman took apart my Champion WQ120D paper shredder to remove the checkbook that was jammed. But it looked to him as if some transisters were burned. Once together again, minus a plastic shim at the...

It sounds like the shredder overloaded when you tried to shred the checkbook. If there is a smell of burned electronics this probably means that the shreader is dead. The plastic shims have nothing to do with the turning on and off of the shredder. Next time buy a shredder that is rated for at least 7-8 sheets, indicating a more powerful motor and sturdier blades. If the current shredder was repairable, it would be cost prohibitive over buying a replacement. Sorry for the bad news.

The fan is not turning at the bottom of the refrigerator in the back, and it has a burning smell.

u need to unplug your ref. your fan motor must be burned out. u need to locate a new one. the new one wont necessary come with a fan blade so try to keep old unless it has fire damage. then i would elso get a new blade. unplug ref. before replacing fan .., then make sure to wipe all inside of box to try to get that smell out. i would use water with a little bleach to clean. try that, ok..

I just had a Broan Elite E662 hood installed and it is blowing out instead of pulling air in. I held a tissue up to the filter and it does not pull it up...rather it blows it down. Was something done...

It sounds like the fan blade may be installed upside down, or the entire motor/fan assembly is upside down. Typically, these small motors aren't reversible, so you should check the blade first.

Took of blade new one should iar blow on coil or

The air must move from the fresh food compartment over the coil into the freezer compartment. The fan blade blows the same way no matter which side faces you. For it to blow the opposite way requires reversing the motor direction, or the pitch of the fan blades.

The fan inside is having a hard time rotating...starting to smell. what gives?

If the fan motor is quite hot to the touch when it is running and the smell is like something burning and the fan blade isn't rubbing on the housing then the fan motor bearing are most likely worn out. If that is the case then the fan motor is bad and needs to be replaced.

Lasko 3723 burnt motor

sorry but you need to purchase a new fan.
some times the motor is not aline correctly and the rotor "part that spins the blade" rubs on the stator "the part with the copper wire:" the motor
over heat with the friction, then smoke followed by the coil burning.

Fan whining and blades not going

Sounds like your compressor outside is frozen up or (locked up) the smell is outside correct? it could also be your fan also in your condensor unit outside the easiest way is to listen for fluid movement (if your freon is moving then your compressor is working and you need to lean toward a fan motor. check to see if you can move the fan blades in the compressor (outside ) if the problem is in the house then approach in the same way with the power to the unit turned off only If you cannot turn it most likely fan motor replacement is in order, and pressure sensors are not letting your condensor run. theres a few things to try hope i have helped .Honestly it probably would not hurt to let a service man look at it anyway, but this way at least you're a little wiser chris

Sebo x1.1 - burning smell

Try replacing the belt. My vacuum cleaner had the same problem and once the belt was changed the burning smell was gone.

Fan

Test the motor fan - unplug the oven, wait 5 minutes and discharge the capacitor. remove the oven housing.  First check for any obstructions that may be preventing the fan from rotating.  Turn the blades by hand: if they don't move easily, disconnect the wires from the motor and take out the motor for cleaning and lubrication.  if the fan blades move freely, check for a burning smell and examine the motor windings for discoloration.  If a wire is loose or broken, repair the wire connection.  To test the motor for less visible damage, set a multitester to test resistance.  the motor should have low resistance.  If not, replace it.
