There are several reasons why a Maxim-X fan might not run. One reason might be that the fan fuse has blown. The fan has a 10A fuse all its own which is located under the cover for the indicator lights by the ignition keyhole (there are four #2 Philips screws that need to be removed before the cover can be removed to access fuses and indicator bulbs).

If the fuse is OK, then the next possibility is that the 'Thermo Switch" which trips the fan isn't making a connection. The Thermo Switch is threaded into the thermostat housing and has a push-on wire connection. Actually, the temperature sensor is also threaded into the thermostat housing but it is the smaller of the two sensors/switches. The larger of the two, which I believe is accessible from the left side of the thermostat housing, is the switch that trips the fan. Often the push-on connection gets oxidized and needs cleaning. Often the wire connection becomes loose and can simply be tightened and pressed securely back into place to restore the connection.

Another reason the fan might not spin is that the power connector has a bad connection. From toward the right side of the fan you'll see a short length of wire (maybe a foot) with two conductors leading to what I seem to recall is a red plug. Like all the other plugs, that can oxidize and create a bad connection. The plug can also come loose if someone before you has broken the locking tab or maybe didn't plug the two halves properly together again. You'll find the plug end up around the right side of the thermostat housing.... between the thermostat housing and the right frame rail. That's also where one white and one yellow plug are tucked away (the yellow is the power plug for the left coil and the white is the power plug for the right coil). It's a pretty tight cluster of wires and plugs but finding the red one for the radiator fan power is fairly easy because tracing the wire back to the fan is fairly easy.

So, if the fuse is OK and the thermo switch is working, and the connection from the thermo switch is a good one, and the power connection for the fan is solid.... then the fan might be burnt out. If so, they come up on eBay often enough so it shouldn't be too difficult to find a replacement.

But, from my experience, my money is on the fuse first, the bad thermo switch connection second and possibly a failed thermo switch third. That's what I've seen most often. Whatever it is, it's a reasonably easy fix.

My coolin fan wont come on wat should I do

Cooling fan is controlled by a relay and a temp sensor. You need to check that each piece is working.
Run power to the fan. fan run? fan ok.
Bridge the relay. Fan run? run power to the relay coil. Fan run? relay good.
find temp sensor. replace.

Why heater fan will not come on?

Wish I knew how old your furnace is. Let me answer your question directly. In the heat mode the fan runs independently from the air conditioning fan relay. Its either brought on by time or temperature. An old furnace will use a fan and limit control that uses a coil to sense the heat exchanger temperature and turn the fan on or off. Newer furnaces use a timer on a circuit board. 20 years or newer Ill bet its a timer board. Follow the blower motor wires back to the component and ill bet that's the culprit. Hope it helps. Good luck.

Cooling fan inop 1995 mustang gt 5.o

you can check the cooling fan by disconnecting the plug at the motor and run jumper wires from the battery directly to the fan motor it should run if its working if it doesn`t run then the cooling fan motor needs replacing. if it does run then check the plug for a bad connection. other things can cause this like the cooling fan relay, the coolant sensor that sends a signal for the computer to turn on the cooling fan by sending a signal to the relay.

Need to find location of coolant fan relay and sensor for 1990 pontiac sunbird ?

if your rad coolant fan is not working check the fan itself as this is a common problem on these cars. disconnect the plug from the fan motor and run jumper wires directly from battery to the fan motor terminals. if the fan doesn`t run replace fan motor. if it does run the check fuses then fan relay. the relay is in the relay box, the coolant sensor for the fan motor is in the head that goes into a coolant passage that has a 2 wire connector.

I have a 901650 intertherm and the fan outside turns on but the air conditioner inside does not work. What could it be?

!st off, do you mean the indoor unit does nothing period as wont run? or wont cool?if it wont run, the checking breakers/fuses etc is a waste of time, as the transformers clearly providing the 24 volts to operate the contactor outside. If you switch your fan to "on" does the fan run?if not, check fan relay, or board or motor/cap etc.If the fan does run with the fan switch set to on, but not in cool mode, the auto function that sends power to green /fan via yellow?cool terminal in the tstat is open and not allowing the 24v to energize the fan relay.

I want to program the fan to run continously

I don't see this as a 'programable' feature.

The unit is designed for the fan to run anytime the compressor runs and if you just want the fan to run all the time (without the compressor) just switch it to the 'fan/fan only' position.

2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Radiator Fan Doesn't run

Have you confirmed the fan has a good ground, sounds like you have eliminated the issue of 12 volts, when you turn on the fan then the AC does the compressor run? if the compressor runs pull the plug to the fan motor and check to see if has 12 volts with a test light, wait for moment because the fan may not run until the AC system pressure reaches a certain pressure point, this means that even though the compressor is running the fan may not always run, There is a quick test for the fan circuit, disconnect the fan sensor at the thermostat housing, the fan should come on, this is failure mode, so if the switch goes open the fan will run to keep the engine from overheating , let me know after the tests are run.
