Harddisk data not acceseble

I have 40gb usb hard disk its detected in task bar but not showing is patition and there data

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

Is the USB Hard disk new or used? If used, is it from Mac?

You can try R-Studio Data Recovery System to see whether there are data in there before.

Otherwise, just format it in Computer Management -> Storage -> Disk Management (if you are using XP).

Please give some more details on the machine and OS u are using, sounds like you have got windows installed and the external harddisk is being recognized as an unknown hardware device.
you may face following problems:

- either you need special drivers for it suiting to the windows version u are using(google!)
- or your PC still has only the 1.1 USB ability
but the external hd is 2.0 USB and that's producing trouble

anyway

in windows XXX:
-make sure you are logged in as an administrator
-then you may try to find the harddisk using the windows explorer or
-left-click'start' goto 'system' then 'hardware'. double-click now and perform a search for new hardware
- does windows find the harddisk now?
- let it install the drivers, unplug usb-device, reboot, reconnect and now it can be found like any other harddrive

good luck - if still facing the problem, please post another request on fixya and give more details on your pc and the harddisk..

My harddisk , seagates replica single PC unable to detect all of the sudden.... it shows that the window unable to install the driver.. hope to find a solution cause all my backup data inside..

Hi t_c_low2005 ,

First of all , please do not panic,

Nothing would happen to your data unless you deleted it intentionally or your hard disk has suffered a hardware damage.

I would recommend you to check if you have an extension wires for USB connected , if yes then remove them and connect the hard disk directly to the USB slots on your motherboard.

This should work fine...:) Hope it helps.

My hardisk showed 2000-0146 error and it got replaced with new harddisk.. can i recover data from my old harddisk?

Try connecting the hard drive to an USB hard drive adapter and connect it to a computer's USB port. The computer should see it as an external storage device and you can open the various folders and files to backup your data.
If the computer cannot detect the hard drive as an external device then the hard drive is faulty.
If the hard drive makes a clicking noisy then it is definitely faulty and replacing the circuit board cannot fix this problem.
There are companies that can retrieve data from a faulty hard disk BUT it will cost you an arm and a leg for their services.

Hi my Transcend 320 GB harddisk is not getting detected. Storejet 320Gb

hello

connect the USB external hard disk to usb port by the way disconnect other working harddisks
available on the system, boot the system with bootable cd/floppy go to command prompt and run
chkdsk on this drive

Also download "mbrfix" connect all working harddisks along with the nondetecting harddisk and run mbrfix for the USB defective harddisk

Try using different USB data transfer cable, if power source adapter is used check for rated power output in multimeter for this adapter, if found defective replace it with new/good adapter with same
specifications

Bad luck if harddisk controller has failed you have to go in for new harddisk

GOOD LUCK ooo

Storejet problem

Good day!

1. Go to my computer and right click then click manage, go to disk management and see if your external harddisk is showed. If showed, then you can see the options there to manipulate your harddisk, either you format it or repartition.
2. You can use also a disk manager software to fully control the function.

My harddisk do not ditect, i have tried very much.

i suggest make your hard disk to be slave..then you can copy what important file in that hard disk and save it to the other hard disk..

try to connect it to others pc with master hardisk tha runs good..then you will see if your hard disk still works there..if you can't open it..you may have corrupted or bad track disk..or maybe worst.. you hard disk is damaged...

Primary Master/Slave Hard Disk Error

Honestly, this is the best software I've used for file recovery:

http://www.ontrackdatarecovery.com/file-recovery-software/

It's a bit pricey, but if your data is important, it's worth every penny.

Hope this helps!

HDD unable to detect at My Computer

Well first I would pull the hard drive out of the case. I would then get a USB to IDE/SATA drive cable. I would connect the drive not being able to be detected to another computer via USB.

If it works the drive is still good but the data might be corrupt. If the data is corrupt I would be sure to get any stuff you can off of it and basically reformat and reload.
