Here are the steps you can follow:

Set up the laser level on a flat surface or tripod and turn it on.

Place a target or receiver on a wall or surface where you want to project the laser beam.

Adjust the receiver to the same height as the laser level.

Align the laser level with the target or receiver.

Rotate the laser level 180 degrees and align it with the target or receiver again.

Check the readings on the receiver. The difference between the two readings should be less than or equal to the accuracy specification for the laser level.

If the readings are not within the specified accuracy, adjust the laser level until they are. Use the adjustment screws on the laser level to fine-tune the alignment.

Repeat the calibration process if necessary.

The unit is sealed with copious ammounts of RTV-11 self leveling silicone. Parts are unavailable for that unit. I wouldn't put the time and effort into it.
If your determined, dig out all the white silicone and unscrew all the screws on the bottom, until things come apart.

Unfortuinately for you (but fortuinately for thoes of us that fix them) parts have long since been discontinued for thoes units. Your best bet would be to go to an industrial or contactor hard ware store (not home depot) and see if they can come up with a similar sized O ring. Or call/email every survey/laser repair shop you can, and see if they have old stock.

It will show Battery Protect when;
1-There are no batteries in unit.
2-The batteries are fully charged.
3-Alkaline batteries have been installed and charging is attempted.
4-The batteries are bad.
Sanyo 4400 Ni-Cads assembled in brick pack form, the Ni-Cads normally last 3-4 years and need replacement. This is an older unit that is obsolete with few parts available but there are after-market battery assemblers that can make them up just Google it.

Laser scanner motor error. The polygon motor does not deliver a synchronous output (L) within the predetermined period of time. The scanner unit may need cleaning. be careful as there is a laser working in this area turn all power off before attemting. The laser unit sits under the top cover.

A laser/scanner error has occurred

Recommended action:
1. From the DIAGNOSTICS menu, run the
laser/scanner motor component test.
Verify that you can hear the motor
rotate.
2. If you cannot hear the motor rotate,
verify that connector J1702 and J1505
are fully seated on the DC controller
PCA (ECU).
3. Verify that the connector J12 on the
laser/scanner assembly is securely
attached.
4. If the error persists, replace the laser/
scanner assembly

There is a small sensor on the fuser that most likely has become disloged. It requires a lot of disassembly to get to.
But an E2 code is that sensor not being cleared off. It pops out of the frame sometimes during paper removal.
