Laptop's are not known for there sound, the smaller the laptop the smaller the speakers are by design. may be some problem has occourd in your head phone check the wire for cut, damage.

did you try to use web cam with another software like msn and see if it is working or not , if yes try to make skype identify web cam again by going to tools menu then options then choose vedio settings it will identify your cam automatically

sound like the hardware supporting your headphones may have disconnected from its solder.This could have happened from dropping the notebook with the headphones plugged in and landing badly, or a strong or constant tug on the input. Otherwise, it could be a software configuration like you've tried
