We have this problem with the DP-Transmitter Type 7MF4433. We can't set the mode 2 (START OF SCALE) to 4 mA and mode 3 (FULL SCALE) to 20 mA. If we are going to use the buttons up or down still the settings for this two modes will set to factory settings which is 3.8 mA. Your help will be much appreciated. THANK YOU!

SOURCE: dodge caravan 1998 start problem (alarm set)

I have had the same trouble with my 1998 Dodge Caravan, so has my neighbor on both of his caravan vans and We have found that if we slap down on the dash above the temperature gauge it will work just fine.

we both lose speedometer and fuel guages too! Same fix

about once a month I will have to slap it, to get my guages back, and stop the alarm.

I believe it is a bad soldiering connection in the dash but it is not worth chasing it down when I can get by without it.

when the post said the van worked fine after being towed it is because the connection was made while the van was jostled around being loaded and transported

The lock button on my key fobs will not lock the doors on 06 honda crv

CHeck to see if it is the right battery - Should be a CR1616 - previous year models, had a different battery.

Does the light come on on the key fob, when you push the button?

You may have to reprogram the remote - check the owners manual for instructions - if you can't find them...

Programming the Transmitter
NOTES:
• The system accepts up to three transmitters. The
transmitter codes are stored in a stacking-type
memory. If a fourth transmitter code is programmed,
the code for the first transmitter is erased.
• Entering the programming mode cancels all learned
transmitter codes, so none of the previously
programmed transmitters will work. You must
reprogram all of the transmitters once you are in the
programming mode.
• You must complete each step within 4 seconds of
the previous step to keep the system from exiting the
programming mode. Program the transmitters within
10 seconds.

1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
2. Press the "Lock" or "Unlock" button on one of the
transmitters. (An unprogrammed transmitter can be
used for this step.)
3. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
4. Repeat steps 1, 2, and 3 two more times using the
same transmitter used in step 2.
5. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
6. Press the "Lock" or "Unlock" button on the same
transmitter. Make sure the power door locks cycle
to confirm that the system is in programming mode.
7. Within 10 seconds, press the "Lock" or "Unlock"
button on each transmitter. Make sure the power
door locks cycle after you press each transmitter
button to confirm that the system accepted the transmitter's code.
8. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0) to exit programming mode.

IF so, and more likely, the fuse on the car side of the remote, is probably gone.

I locked my keys in my 06 mercury mariner and i need to reset the code to my car, how can i reset the code?

You must have all remote entry transmitters (maximum of four) available before beginning this procedure. According with the Mariner Owners Manual check this procedure to reprogram the remote entry transmitters:

1. Ensure the vehicle is electronically unlocked.
2. Put the key in the ignition.
3. Turn the key from the 1 (LOCK) position to 3 (RUN).
4. Cycle eight times rapidly (within 10 seconds) between the 1 (LOCK) position and 3 (RUN).
Note: The eighth turn must end in the 3 (RUN) position.
5. The doors will lock, then unlock, to confirm that the programming mode has been activated.
6. Within 20 seconds press any button on the remote entry transmitter.
Note: If more than 20 seconds have passed you will need to start the procedure over again.
7. The doors will lock, then unlock, to confirm that this remote entry transmitter has been programmed.
8. Repeat Step 6 to program each additional remote entry transmitter.
9. Turn the ignition to the 1 (LOCK) position after you have finished programming all of the remote entry transmitters.
10. The doors will lock, then unlock, to confirm that the programming mode has been exited.

Note: If all remote entry transmitters are not present during the programming procedure, the missing transmitters will not work with the vehicle following programming.

Hope helps.

I used csorb's instructions to reprogram a master key for my 2000 Lexus RX300. The ignition works perfectly, but the doors don't lock or unlock.

Hi!!
I believe your alarm is in the PASSIVE MODE, here is how it works.

PASSIVE MODE Setting (Arming) Anti-Theft System The system will automatically set 30 seconds after following methods are performed: Remove ignition key from ignition switch. Exit vehicle, and close all doors. After performing this, anti-theft indicator on left side of instrument panel will light continuously for about 30 seconds. After 30 seconds, anti-theft indicator will blink once per second. When system is set, doors cannot be locked or unlocked using door lock control switch.
CANCELING THE ALARM AND REPROGRAMING MAY SOLVE YOUR PROBLEM.
Canceling Anti-Theft System Setting (No Alarm) When system is set (armed), but alarm is not sounding, use one of following methods to cancel system setting:
  • Unlock left or right front door using key.
  • Unlock all doors using remote keyless entry system.
  • Insert key in ignition switch and turn to ON position (this is operative only when anti-theft system has not been triggered).
HERE IS HOW TO REPROGRAM THE ALARM IN CASE YOU NEED TO RESET IT.
PROGRAMMING
PASSIVE MODE NOTE:Initial mode is passive mode off. If there is a different signal in middle of programming, signal is invalid.
Programming Passive Mode Off
  • Remove ignition key from ignition key cylinder. Ensure all doors (including back door) and engine hood are closed and unlocked. Perform all of following methods within 30 seconds:
  • Lock or unlock any door with key or remote keyless entry system.
  • Open driver door.
  • Lock and unlock driver door lock knob 3 times.
  • After performing this, system should start force lock after 2 seconds. Perform all of following methods within 20 seconds:
  • Unlock driver door lock knob.
  • Close and open driver door 2 times.
  • Lock and unlock driver door lock knob.
  • After performing this, system should start force lock after 2 seconds. Passive mode should now be off.
Programming Passive Mode On
  • Remove ignition key from key cylinder. Ensure all doors, engine hood and luggage compartment door are closed and unlocked.
  • Close and open driver door 4 times.
  • Lock and unlock driver door lock knob.
  • After performing this, system should start force lock after 2 seconds. Passive mode should now be on.

main fuse block which is located on the left side of
your instrument panel. The radio fuse is on the lower
right-hand corner of your instrument panel. See
"Fuses and Circuit Breakers" in the Index.
3. Turn the ignition key from OFF to RUN three times

respond by locking the doors, unlocking the driver's
door and releasing the hatch. Your transmitter is now
ready to match the vehicle. Leave the ignition
in RUN.
4. Press and hold the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on
the first transmitter for 15 seconds. The vehicle will
respond as in Step 3.
5. Repeat Step 4 for the remaining transmitters.

7. Check that all transmitters work by pressing
the buttons.

Programmable Modes
Your vehicle can be programmed to one of the
following modes:
Mode 1: All Off (The headlamps will not flash and the
horn will not sound to provide you feedback that a
lock/unlock command has been received by the remote
keyless entry transmitter.)

entry transmitter.
2. Count the number of chimes you hear. The number
of chimes tells you which mode your vehicle is
set for.
3. Press the UNLOCK button, again, on the remote

When programming is complete, turn the ignition to
OFF and reinstall the RADIO fuse.
