So last night my ipod froze on a song...it has happened before so I just let it run out of batteries then I let it recharge. At first the touch scrollwheel was not working, but after I toggled with the hold switch it started working again. But now...no sound is coming out and I know it's a bad thing but was wondering how to do a complete restart before I think about buying a new one cause I'd rather not....it's a black 30gb ipod video model A1136, have had it for 2.5 years

this is what you will do, when you sync it again stop the automatic sync the click on your player on the itunes window to see its details, you will see 3 or 4 checkboxes and check manually add music or songs and ucncheck if there is any, the box that says automatically sync music, then click sync, it will start syncing again the disconnect. add songs only to the folder where itunes have got the songs so that next time you sync the ipod the songs previously added wont be erased.

If u hold down the center button and the play/pause button at the same time the ipod will restart. Trust me I had the same issue before on my 30GB Ipod Video
The JBL On Stage Micro is supposed to disable recharging of the iPod when running off AAA batteries to avoid draining them, but sometimes this setting gets stuck even when the unit is plugged in through the AC adapter. The workaround that I found is pulling out and reconnecting the iPod to the Onstage Micro (while both are powered on) and then unplugging and reconnecting the AC adapter. Sometimes you have to repeat this process, but the iPod should start recharging after that. I tried this on different versions of the iPod nano and this seems to work.
Try doing this: Toggle the hold switch and put it back in the off position. Then press and hold the center button and the menu button simultaneously for ten seconds and the apple symbol should come up on the screen. Then it should work like normal. Hope this helps!
you can try to run the batteries down or you can try to open it, disconnect the battery and connect it again, before closing it see if the unit was reseted.
my screen lock code wont let it activate
