My advent 7086 is locked-how do i unlock it.

If this is a Windows 8 system, it sounds like you are having issues with the new 'hybrid shutdown' feature. I would suggest that you hold the power button for about 7 seconds at the cursor, this should turn off your PC. Then if you want to disable the hybrid shutdown, read the article in the link.

do you mean to enable the wireless switch so that you can use the internet

as you have not told us which model you have i can not tell you where the switch is

please try some of these options if your model is mentioned

Advent 7086 ---- Button next to the power button
Advent 7096 ---- Button next to the power button
Advent 7100 ---- Fn / F2
Advent 7104 ---- Fn / F2
Advent 7201 ---- wireless key top right and then Fn / F2
Advent 8117 ---- small slide switch on the front of laptop

Could you tell me Why you had to shut it down?
Was it for rebooting?
Are you able to disassemble the unit and pulled the cmos battery?...
If you can... Do that and see if that revives your system

For rebooting your netbook. Click start and then shutdown and then restart. This will reboot your netbook. If it doesn't shuts down press and hold the power key for 5 seconds or more and it will be turned off.

ur advent shutdowns to protect the processor from damage ur advent is nt desktop so u cant apply cpu gel in it.i recommend u to check out the cooling fan working correctly or not ,if it is under warranty then take it to product care center.

remove battery.
plug in the power supply cord.
restart computer.
shutdown computer.
replace battery.
restart computer.

hold the display button until it unlocks.

Press F12, Num Lock, and FN at the same time.
OR F12 and Num Lock/ Scroll Key.
OR Hold the Ctrl and Fn key down together and press also
the Ins(Num LK) key.
