You'll need to open the vacuum head and remove the beater bar. Clean up the bearings at each end of the beater bar and reassemble the head.

SOURCE: DC 07 BRUSH BAR DOES NOT TURN BELT OK

Stand vacuum up and with it plugged in. Rotate knob between carpet and bare floor and back 5 times leaving it on carpet when finished. Rotate vacuum back from upright position and lay vacuum on the floor, rotating it onto its side. Turn vacuum on.

SOURCE: brush froze up and keeps breaking belts

I had the same problem but I found that I had replaced belt incorrectly. After placing one end of belt around pully, it has to be run behind the "belt disengager" which looks like a 1/2" wide metal tab just past pulley. After placing belt correctly I had no more belt, burning smell or brush problems.

SOURCE: roller brush won't spin (bissel 6390/3910 series)

I just fixed mine. It took me all of 10 minutes. Pull the brush out. Stand the brush on end on the edge of your study work bench/table top. while holding the brush vertical( on end) take a small phillips screwdriver and tap using a hammer on the metal pin you see in the middle of the brush. Keep tamping and the whole assembly will come apart. What you will have then is a long metal shaft, 2 bearings(they are acutally skateboard wheel bearings same number same make). Clean the gobbed up hair with a razor blade and then reassemble by tapping back together. The bearing wont be worn out because they are way too tough for a vaccum. We used ride down hills on them! a ten minute fix wow and you wont have to drive to vacuum shop and spend $$ and time

The brush bar isn't going round ?

your problem seems to be the belt has snapped. Underneath the the hover there is a rubber belt that connects around the brush bar and around the motor, this belt will be broken. They can purchased from any hoover shop for a couple of pounds.

Brush bar doesn't rotate.

Either the bearing in the rotating brush is bad and isn't allowing the brush to turn, or in the majority of cases, the belt is broken.

The brush on my dyson vacuum won't turn, and the

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial.

There are a number of reasons why your brush roller has stopped moving. General maintenance to your vacuum is crucial and will help it work at peak performance.

First things first lets focus on the brush roller. Unplug the vacuum and turn it on its side. Look for any noticeable clumps of debris or hair strands that may be caught in the brush roller. Remove these obstructions, probably best to do so with a scissor if it's hair or long pieces of carpet fibers. After removing the debris try manually rotating the brush roller to uncover other hidden clogs. Another thing to take note of is the condition of the bristles on the roll itself. Are they loose or worn down? These are signs that your brush roller is in need of replacing.

While checking out your brush roll you might as well take a look at your vacuums belt. Your belt should be replaced about every three months. After regular usage, the belt will stretch out, lessening the tension on the brush roller. Lesser tension diminishes the brush roller's turn rate and speed. If the belt feels loose then it certainly is affecting your vacuums suction as well as your brush roll not moving at all.

Belt isn't turning the brush head

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC25. This model is equipped with a belt designed to last the lifetime of the machine, and we'd advise against attempting to access this, as this can void our 5-year guarantee.

If the brushbar isn't rotating, it's likely that the machine just needs resetting. This is easy to do - please follow the steps shown in the video below. Our online support guide may also be useful:

This should resolve the issue, but if you'd like any further assistance or advice, please get in touch with us directly by calling our Helpline free on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US).

Where is the belt housed on the Hoover vacum cleaner model U5461-900? The belt number is 38528-033 but I can't find where the broken belt is to replace it.

Simply lay the machine down with the brush assembly facing upwards, and remove the four screws holding the bottom plate in place, and remove it. Put the new belt around the motor shaft, then around the brush assembly and push the brush back into place. Turn the brush with your fingers before replacing the bottom plate, to be sure the belt isn't caught between the brush and housing.

Motor wont turn on.I checked the switch and I think it is working.motor turns on if a put direct power to it.`but it smokes at the brushes. can you help?

This sounds like either the belt isn`t on right or the brush is not slotted in the vacuum right remove the plastic or metal cover from the bottom and check by inspecting the belts ability to easly turn the brush rod check with your hands DO NOT turn vacuum on while plate cover is off it could fly off and cause injury.
