Just buy a wire connector for that size wire and reconnect the broken wire. Wire sizes vary by uses with the lower numbers being thicker wires. I would guess the wires you have are around a 14 gauge or a 12. You will need a connector that has that diameter to allow a proper fit. There are connectors which crimp together. The more modern screw together.

SOURCE: horn not working on a 2006 ford f250 xlt

The cause of this is not the horn or fuse in most cases, it is caused by the rotating contact that connects the horn button, in order to repair this you will need a new clock-spring contact, to install the airbag must be disarmed, his has to be done by the book or serious injury can result.

SOURCE: 1996 Ford Explorer XLT abs light comes on on

The ABS light is for the Anti-lock Braking System. The MIL will illuminate if there is a difference in wheel speed sensors signals to the PCM. So you might have a wheel speed sensor that is going out on you. Does the light come on at low speeds, or just higway speeds? You could take the vehicle to a local parts store and have them pull the codes for you and that will tell you which speed sensor is out of whack. Also road grime, dirt and gunk buildup can cause speed sensors to give false readings. Hope tihs helps you out.......

What keeps making my truck blow the number 19 fuse and shuts completly off its a 95 ford explorer 4x4 xlt

There seem to be a number of problems with the wires going to the PCM relay. Or you may just want to try to replace the PCM relay and then troubleshoot the wiring if that does not help.

Many of the problems seem to occur after someone works on the engine heads. Must be nearby wiring and brittle wire loom gets moved and causes shorting problems.

There are some owner forums for Explorers that have similar problems.

Does any have a wiring schematic for a 98 ford explorer xlt?

Best thing is to do a Web search titled "1998 ford explorer wiring diagram". This will give you results which include fuse boxes and power boxes and color coded wiring routing. Check for other items that are on the same fuse as the turn signals to see if they work. The turn signal flasher unit could also be bad.

Horn problem on 2001 ford explorer xlt

Hi there,

Inspect the following components, in this order (with key off) until you get it working:

** Disconnect the plugs from the Horn terminals. Run separate jumper wires from the Batt (NEG & POS), to the horn. If horn does not work, then replace horn. If horn works fine, then continue....

** Check fuse # 10 (15A), in the Battery Junction Box - replace if defective. Check horn operation.

** Check Horn Relay (also in the Battery Junction Box) - remove the relay, give it a gentle tap, and plug back in. Check horn operation.

If all the above prove ok, then the fault lies in your steering wheel/horn switch assembly.

Cheers,

I have a 99 ford explorer and the power windows have stopped working fuse and relay are good. I can't locate the power window module, any suggestions would be helpful.

Same thing happened to my drivers side. I have a 1999 Ford Explorer XLT. Mechanic found a broken wire in the wiring boot that runs from the door to the body. Spliced wire back together. Fixed the problem.

I have a 96 explorer xlt v6 has alarm that works thru the horns. the horns quit working checked fuses in dash no burnt ones looked for horns or horn under hood could not locate where they were. doug

The horns are located on the left side of the radiator
support. To check them, use a jumper wire from the
+post on the battery unplug the horn and touch the
wire to the horn contact. If it toots check the horn relay in the power dist. box on the left fender. Also
check fuse #4 a 20amp fuse in the same dist box.
But if the horn won't toot replace the horn. If none of
the things I've mentioned pan out. You can get back
to us and we'll dig a little deeper. Good luck.
