Question about Tomtom One Europe v2 GPS Receiver

1 Answer

Tomtom problem Hi, I have just recently purchased a Tomtom XL. It seemed to be working OK for the first few days when I had it in the car on the charger. I then unplugged it,turned it off and put it in the glovebox, fully charged. The next time I got it out to use it was completely dead and I had to re charge it to use it. I then charged it fully before turning off again. I've just tried it now and again it's completely dead! Is it me or the Tomtom that has issues? Patrick

When you turn off the device with power button, you actually set the device in stand by mode, not fully turned off.
This state will drain the battery.

The only way I know to turn device fully off, is to do a reset with paperclip at bottom of device...

TomTom XL 330 not coming on?

If you TomTom is not coming on after a long sleep.. I.E. more then a few days with no use, try this......

(1) Plug the unit into either a PC or your Car
(2) Wait for about 2-5 minutes to get some charge into the unit
(3) Press and hold the power button for about 15-20 seconds until you see the start-up screen

Why did it die? I have found and many other have found the battery does not live long without a power supply to charge it, it would seem to me even thou it is powered off, the TomTom is still sucking away at the battery and it would seem there is nothing that can be done about it.

From what I understand, you have a 30 day guarantee for the latest update map. That 30 day stretch starts from the day of first use (not the time of purchase). It it is not a store demonstration unit then you still have 15 days. It goes without saying that if the licensed map has not updated within the 30 days period, there is nothing to update. You can however still use the Map Share feature to download the minor map corrections.

I suggest you frequently connect your unit to the calculator and the Tomtom Home software will do the automatic updates. If a new map is issued within your 30 period you will get. Even if you missed it you should console yourself in the knowledge that major map update are not that frequent. You can also buy other maps from Tomtom.

Just bought new Tomtom and it says to update within 30 days but I don't know how

Hi, If its all working OK to your requirements . Let sleeping dogs lay. Theres no need to update it if you are happy. If you require traffic information updates ( thats if you are paying a subscription for the service ) then you will probably want to update anyway..... You can update by going to the TomTom website and downloading their software "TomTom Home" . Install this to your PC and follow the instructions . You will need to connect your TomTom to your PC via USB cable in order for any updates to take place. TomTom Home does this automaticly for you ( more or less ). You should laos have received a CD with your TomTom at purchase and this CD contains the TomTom Home software . Good Luck.
