I just got done with 10 others like this with the same problem, just look at some of my other solutions to see what you will be doing. Basically you need to upgrade your entire charging system to run these amps, You guys are not even considering the power draw that it takes to keep these things running at full power! You need to plan out your system way before you start to buy things to make sure that you will only have to install it once and do it correctly. It all starts with the power available from your alternator. You will have about 40 to 60 amps of left over current to use from a stock alt after it has to charge the battery and power the car while driving. That means you can have a head unit drawing 15 amps and a sub amp that will draw 35 to 40 amps before you will need to upgrade your entire charging system. Failure to do this will result in Batteries lasting 1 year a new alt every summer, your amps will burn up the insides a few times before you realize the importance of this all.

What is the correct way to hook up a 1000 watt Sony xplod Amp with 1 subwoofer to my Sony mp-40

To properly hook up your 1000 watt Sony Xplod Amp with one subwoofer to your Sony MP-40, you will need to connect the subwoofer to the amplifier using RCA cables. Once the subwoofer is connected, you will then need to use a power cable to connect the amplifier to your Sony MP-40. Make sure the power cable is connected properly and that the amplifier is turned on. After that, you should be able to adjust the settings on the amplifier to get the desired sound from the subwoofer.

Is the sony xplod cdx-gt71w able to support a subwoofer without another amp

Sure is.

The sony is bridgable as follows:

  • 100W x 4 @ 4 Ohm
  • 100W x 2 + 250W x 1 @ at 4 Ohm

  • This will allow 2 channels to run 100 watts each @ 4ohms with an additional single channel with 250 watts @ 4 ohms.

The single sub channel is created by bridging channels 3 & 4

I Have a Sony Xplod 800 watt amp and 2 12 inch Sony Xplod subs

You should definately bridge them. Firstly, lay the 2 speakers face down next to each other. Note the connections +- +-. The first + will go to the amplifier. The next terminal(-) will be connected to the next speaker(+). Take the last(-) and connect to amplifier. Please note that your amplifier has a bridge section which is normally the first + and the last- on the two channels. Connect your woofers on the bridge.

Getting my son a sony xplod xm-1652 2 channel what subs would sound good and the things says 1000x2 and 500x2 what is the truth

165 watts x 2 @ 4ohms and 200-230 watts@ 2 ohms or 400-460 watts bridged into a 4 ohm mono load is what the amp will actually do. A single 12 inch sub or a pair of 10 inch subs or 12s would be great
