My downloading speed as well as surfing speed is getting slow why?

You probably need more ram memory. Also try playing a video in your dvd player. If it plays slow and choppy you definitely need more ram memory.

If you are trying to play a video from a website (streaming) then three things can affect how smooth it plays.
1) Memory - your ram memory might be low
2) The website might be experience heavy traffic from many users.
3) The Line Speed of your internet connection from your service provider might be slow. For example: AT&T sells about 3 or 4 different packages and each one increases the line speed for uploading or downloading. If you buy the low end package the line speed is very slow on uploading and downloading or streaming. It's ok for just surfing, but nothing else.

do both of these steps:
1- disable "Windows Update" and "Firewall" from Control Panel.
2- download and install Firefox latest version.

are you sure it isnt 10kb per month d/l, after that system will slow, but still d/l. my guess is your speed is faster at the beginning of your pay cycle...

Complaint to your DSL provider for slow speed. As possible, integrate your RAM and processor. Download with DAP (Download accelerator plus) and install Google Chrome for fast surfing. Install a licensed antivirus or registry booster.

There are couple of troubleshootig steps which needs to be performed inorder to help get a web page load faster.

Go to Tools/options/ and delete the history, cached pages, cookies, password etc. Might want to ignore favourites.

Also type temp in run command line and then delete the files from the folder. This helps to increase the processing speed as well as the browsing speed of the accer.

This works with IE 6/7/8 though.

check the system.wther antivirus is updted....n try scan for virus...contact reliance customer care...n complaint abt speed,let dem check speed n tower signls at ur place

It is probably your ISP provider. They do bandwith throttling. A connection is allowed to download certin amount of data at high speed (e.g 12MB at the full speed) and then speed drops down significantly. This will allow very fast surfing as pages are less then limit, but downloading music and moview over the limit would be slowed down. Solution is to buy business type of internet access, which is more expensive.
