Your TV's native format is 4:3 so to prevent burn in effect the TV will go back to 4:3 every time you turn it off or change channels.

Give up on help from this site and go buy a new remote.

Go to menu and select add/delete channels. Then select 02, or 03. Some channels that are selected the numbers will show green, channels not locked in will be red.

the great thing about sony is you dont need the remote to do menu functions. there is a flip down panel in the front that has the menu, cursers, and select buttons. just select the tab you need in the menu (channels) select the type of input (cable :on/off) then auto program. be sure to have the VCR off so not to program the channel 3 only.

Press (on your regular remote for your satellite) the t.v. button, then press info, this worked for me and I tried everything. another viewer posted this solution and it worked great! this is not the original remote, it is the satellite remote.

I have been there with my KV-27S42 and lost the remote. I bought one from Replacement Remotes.com, it doesn't look exactly like the other one (a couple years ago the replacement DID look like the Sony and they must have been threatened) so now it looks a little different but is an equivalet and will solve your problem for $18.

Now my trouble is my KV-27S42 quit working YESTERDAY and I think it's going to cost more than it's worth. May have to abandon Sony because I read about a lot of failures.
