Miele s7210 light comes on,but doesn't run. no clogged hoses.

I have a Miele with a failed motor and it sounds if you have as well. The is nothing shown as a common, or known fault. Take it to your local Miele Service Centre for diagnosis and repair.

Most likely a bad circuit board or it could be a bad motor. Take it to your local Miele dealer for repair or replacement.

The red filter light will not reset after replacing the filter on my Miele S5980

Hi There, I actually did a repair on this problem only a couple of weeks ago. The problem could be that the small lever that pushes on the reset button on the circuit board is bent or broken. The little button costs about $10 from memory and certainly a whole lot cheaper than the board itself which is $234. Just to clarify in my case there was nothing wrong with the board, I was able to manually push the reset switch on the board and replace the tiny lever and problem was solved.

Meile red star

Hi,

Yes, this very well could be a problem with the cord reel, especially if it happened all of a sudden. There's a few ways that you can diagnosis this problem yourself. First make sure the cord is all the way reeled into the vacuum. Next find an outlet that's close, and only pull out enough cord as you have to, to be able to reach the wall outlet. After you've plugged the machine into the wall, use one hand to slowly pull more cord out of the vacuum, and use the other hand to continuously turn on and off the vacuum pushing the foot pedal that controls the main switch. Slowly pull the cord out, and turn the vacuum on and off, on and off, on and off.

At any point while you were doing this did the vacuum come on, even for a very short time? Did it even make a noise like it was trying to start? If you heard a noise, or the vacuum even came on for a time, then this definitely indicates that you have a bad cord reel.

If it didn't make a noise or come on, you still may have a cord reel problem, but you'll need to take the machine apart to further diagnosis it at this point. A simple continuity electrical tester will be needed to test the cord reel.

Here's a very detailed repair instruction that I left for a similar model Miele on Fixya already. The model that you posted the repair under is a Miele Red Star which is an S314i, the model I repaired the cord on was actually a S514. The cord repair on both of these models is identical however, except your Red Star actually has two screws that need to be removed from the variable speed control box, the S514 only has one. Otherwise, it's almost completely the same repair. If you need to purchase a cord reel for your Miele, here's a direct link to the Miele S300 series cord reel that goes with your Red Star:
http://www.govacuum.com/miele-cord-reel-s300-series-06777540.html

Even better, if you purchase the cord reel from GoVacuum, you have 60 days after the purchase that you may return the cord reel to us if that wasn't the problem (we do test all the returns to make sure that they weren't damaged when being installed), and as long as the cord reel is returned undamaged, we give you a full refund, we don't believe in restocking or shipping fees. Better yet, we even include a return label with every order that you may use for free to avoid return shipping charges.

If you find that the cord reel is not the problem, that can only leave one of three things; the switch, the motor, or the pc control board that's on your motor. In 10 years of fixing Miele vacuums however, I can safely bet that it's your cord reel.

Anyways, here's the link to step by step instructions on how you can remove the cord to test it, as well as replacing it. Miele white star canister vacuum - won't turn on, but isn't clogged

Miele S251i Plus Bagged Canister Vacuum
Miele white star canister vacuum - won't turn on,...
Hi,

I have the above canister vac, which after my son tried to vac the stairs, it rolled down the stairs on him, but still worked, after turned off/on. Then after turned off maybe 10-15 mins., stopped working when we tried the switch. My father in law is our fix it guy, but still having a problem with the switch. Is there a wiring guide we could look at?

Thank you!

ALevy

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
You can try to call the factory for the Miele S251i schematics / wiring diagram @ the phone number and website listed below or I put a few pieces of information listed below that might help.
1. The vacuum cleaner switches off automatically
A temperature limiter switches the vacuum cleaner off automatically if it gets too hot. Some models have a warning light (triangle) which comes on to indicate that it has overheated. Allow the appliance to cool down for approx. 30 mins. and remove any blockages to the air path.
2. The "Change dustbag" indicator stays on even when a new bag has been inserted
To ensure the dustbag change indicator gives a correct reading, lift the floor nozzle or power head off the floor slightly to prevent the vacuum created in the suction tube from influencing the reading.
3. The exhaust filter indicator is red
Change the exhaust filter and then press "Reset" to switch off the indicator light.

New Miele Red Star - Powerbrush not working

Wish you had listed the model number of the vac and of the powerhead. The plug going into the cannister, is it pushed all of the way in, also same for the plug going into the hose end? You can hook up the powerhead plug to a/c and see if it runs, if it does, then it is ok. Unhook the hose and plug and hook up a/c to that plug end and see if the powerhead will run, if not maybe the switch on the hose handle has a problem. Otherwise you have a problem in the cannister. If this is brand new, then it has a warranty, take in for repair.
