Miele Vacuums - Recent Questions, Troubleshooting & Support

Good afternoon Kristen.

Vacuum cleaners usually pop the 'bag full' indicator when they lose suction due to the load of dirt in the bag impeding the motor pulling air through.

If you are still getting the indicator with a new bag, and already did the prudent re-seating of the bag, the next thing is likely a clog or blockage elsewhere in the vacuum. You don't specify the model, so I can't be too specific.

Safety first. Please please please make sure the unit is unplugged before you start disassembling.

As you are able, detach hoses, look in the back of the brush unit, see if there's a blockage. Wads of crumpled paper are particularly good at wedging themselves into corrugated flex lines. Depending on location, I've found that a wire coat hanger, bent into marshmallow-roaster configuration, with the old hook bent with some pliers into a long straight section with a small half-loop at the end, can be a good probe for the long sections of tube to see if it runs into anything, and then perhaps hook it and pull it out. Be careful if you do this to not hook the tubing walls and tear them.

Hoping this helps!

Check for clog. They turn off when clogged to protect motor. Do you have suction from hose, can you see through wand. Or you may have pulled cord away from cordwinder which would probably need to be replaced.

Hi bndennis,

Please check the spring on your lid, it may be keeping the door open. Miele vacuum cleaners mainly use a spring concept for keeping lids open - merely pushing it down will lock it at the bottom.

Kind Regards :-)

Most likely a bad circuit board or it could be a bad motor. Take it to your local Miele dealer for repair or replacement.

is there a little button (reset) on the motor? did it work one day and not the next or did it die when using?

sounds like rotating bar is obstructed and now the motor is spinning but bar is stuck. yes a belt between motor and bar is burning. you must have sucked up something that is binding the brushbar
