Be sure they're both set to the same "channel" and "code".

Cannot connect between my two t5920 radio sets?

No, the battery will not have an effect on whether the two radios talk to one another, unless the battery is bad or dead.

Check your programming to be certain your Frequency, Interference Eliminator Code, and Qt Filter if any are set the same between the two radios. For basic operation shut off the Code and Filter (set to zero).

Will the t5500 work with the t5920?

Yes, the two radios, if both produced for use in the USA, will work together. You will need to see the frequency, code, and Qt filter, if any, to the same settings as one another. For ease of use, set the code and Qt filter to off (zero) for basic communications. Then you will only be choosing a number for your frequency. Here are the user guides for each:

How to tx and rx between t5920 and yaesu vx6r

The T5920 is user programmable. It appears your VX6R does not have a CODE turned on, if you can receive transmissions from the T5920, but not talke back. The T5920 has both a CODE and a Qt filter. The Qt filter must be set to zero to communicate with other brands of radios. And to turn off your CODE, you will need to set it to zero also.
