Car would not start, jumped it, bought new battery, had it installed at store and car drove fine, then an hour later the car died while I was driving it, had to restart it, and it just kept doing it. Engine light is on, I am assuming the starter/alternator is now the problem and it was not the battery from the beginning?
If the car died while you where driving it, it sounds like it is the alternator. Did it start right up or did you have to boost it? If you had to boost it to start it again,I would say it is the alt., but if it started right away w/o a boost, it is something else.
Testimonial: "I was slowing down to turn then I noticed the car was moving, lights were on, etc dash was lite, but no power when I put my foot on the gas. I shut the car off for a minute, it started back up and then the engine light went on. I drove it a minute around the parking lot, found a spot and parked it. I went in store, called home, a half our later I drove all the way home, 20 mins and nothing happened but the engine light was on the whole time and on the way home I did not have anything turned on. Just the heat on the lowest setting, and lights of course. "
If it happens when your are at a light or turning like you said then its your throttle body. it is clogged. you need to clean it.

First, DON"T check your alternator that way anymore. It's not good to do on newer systems! The best, quickest check I can tell you is to put a volt meter across the battery. Running with accessories off you should see voltage of about 13.5 to 14.5.
With all accessories and headlamps on high turned on, it should not drop below 12.5. (and that is the absolute low end!).
It sounds like something in the car is staying on. check the glovebox light and interior light delay and make sure they are OK. Otherwise, you will have to start checking entire system for a draw that's taking out the battery overnight. To check, you can pull one fuse at a time and see if draw goes away, then check system that fuse serves.

That is a very good place to start. You and remove the alternator, and most auto parts stores will check it for you.

Are you using the original key that came with the car? The chip in that key may have gone bad. Try using the spare key that should have come with the purchase of the car. You may also be having battery issues. If all else fails....call the people who really know how to rape you...DUM Dum dummmmm....the dealer

Fault with the IAC valve.there maybe a trouble code associated with it also./ Go to your nearby autozone or auto parts retailer and ask them to put a scanner to the car....make note of the codes if any are found. the IAC valve i usually locate don the throttle body and can be removed for inspection and sometimes cleaning using a good throttle body cleaner spray and a pipe cleaner brush.

disconecting the battery should reset the pcm. but you will need to find out what caused the problems.
