Sharp IR 2016 platine glass dirty

The cover plate is above the glass white surface of the scanner. If this is the same dirty stains will come out on copies.
The glass must be clean.
By feeding the original documents through the ADF, the scanner lamp is no longer the path to scan, the ADF is responsible for passing the original document over the scanner, while it remains still placed on the side under a thin glass is to a large glass side. This also must be clean, otherwise you will be black lines on each point or spot on the glass.
Good luck ...

Why is there still a line showing through middle of pages when scanning/printing via top document tray of toshiba e stuido 351c? I know who to clean glass area but not top tray.

Does this line appear when you try to print to the machine? Or when you make copies on the scan bed? If so, then you most likely have a mark on the drum unit. If not, then the **** glass that the document feeder uses is located to the left of the large glass surface, attempt to clean that and ensure that no mark or scuff marks are on the **** glass.

I want to clean the underside scanning glass of the HP C4180 scanner/printer because when I scann, the top is clean, but the scaned pictures look like they have little specks of dust all over the scanned...

It takes several steps to remove the glass carrier for cleaning, but it's not really difficult. You'll need a T10 Torx screwdriver, eyeglasses cleaner or similar, and a lint-free microfiber cloth.

1) Remove usb and power cables. Flip the front covers open (revealing the cartridge-insertion area). Remove 2 screws from the right-side panel, and remove that panel.

2) Open the photo-paper holder on the left side, depress plastic tabs on its top and bottom so it can swing out 90 degrees, and remove it.

3) Remove 2 screws from the left-side panel, and remove the panel. This exposes the gears of the paper-handling mechanism; take care not to move the gears. Disconnect the three ribbon cables connected the bottom circuit board.

4) Flip up the LCD, exposing a screw. (Note that this one is shorter than all of the others.) Remove the screw. Lift the scanner lid and remove two screws just behind the rear of the glass. Close the cover. Lift the rear of the glass carrier, then slide it back slightly to remove it. Take care not to move the scanner bar that remains in the main body of the machine.

5) Keeping the lid shut, flip the glass carrier over over. Spray cleaner on the glass and wipe; repeat as needed. I use a bright light at a low angle to check for particles on the glass.

To reassemble, just reverse the steps. Finish by cleaning the top of the glass.

My Dell 926 all in one printer has started putting a red line through all the photos I try to scan. What is causing this and how can I fix it?

it could idicate a weak laser. try cleaning the glass with a soft cloth which also sometimes begins to give a kind of coloured look which it gets older. if none works trying moving the picture form position to position across the glass to see if it does give the same problem.
good luck and let me know of the outcome

I have a Xerox copier model XD105f. When the unit is first turned on or waken up the green scan light bar (I do not know the correct name) starts it's re-indexing mode the gets stuck repeating a 1/4"...

I have seen this occur if the reference strip (white strip underneath the registration edge on underside of glass) is dirty. Clean the underside of the entire platen with glass cleaner sprayed onto a cloth and wipe clean with cloth dampened with water. While you are in there, wipe mirrors with dust-free cloth. Take care to move carriage CAREFULLY as you can jump the cables off of the pulleys.

My church has a HP Color Laser Jet 2840 someone came into the office and evidently pressed the scan button. The screen reads "Scanner error 5 turn off then on." I did this several times but it...

clean the glass, and if possible clean the underside.
At startup the scanner tries to define white. If you open the top and clean the under/otherside of the glass, you will see a strip of white labeling about 1/4" wide by the length of the scan area, this is the default white that the scanner uses to calibrate. Over time it gets dirty or spider webs get on it, clean it, but don't spray anything directly on it. Reassemble the top and power up.

Line in copies that go thru feeder

Hi,

Over time the automatic document feeder (ADF) will get dirty, occasionally causing vertical black streaks or lines in scans and copies .

Manual cleaning of the ADF might be necessary. Follow the procedure below to manually clean the ADF .

You will need the following materials:
  • Soft lint-free cloths
  • Glass cleaner
if you look carefully on the left side of ADF ( top feeder ) there is an assembly which u can lift , there wud be a set of rollers if u lift that part there would be a glass strip . u are suppose to clean that strip .
While holding up the inside of the ADF, clean the glass in the location of the vertical streak with one of the cotton swabs. Try cleaning the glass first with a dry cotton swab. If that does not correct the problem, then moisten the swab with glass cleaner .
If the vertical lines or streaks still appear, go through the above cleaning process again, this time cleaning the entire surface of the ADF scanner glass.
and after this try the following steps as well .
CAUTION: Use only glass cleaner. Avoid abrasives, acetone, benzene, and carbon tetrachloride, all of which can damage the scanner glass.
