How du I reset a password for my router?

Login to your router, then find the Wireless Security page, when it asks for security or encryption type, choose WPA, and then create a passphrase/passkey/PIN/password (different manufacturers use different names for it). Once you change the passphrase, you'll need to reconnect all your devices with the new passphrase.

Which # on the bottom of my actiontec is the WEP #?

The WEP encryption key is setup by the user, it is not a fixed key.
Theencryption key secures your data from unauthorized access. The router's password is a Passphrase or the WEP or WPA orWPA2 encryption key. The Passphrase generates the WEP or WPA or WPA2 encryptionkey and this is in the router's wireless settings. To connect to your wireless router, configure the router'swireless settings ie SSID, plus the WPAor WPA2 encryption key and then configure wireless cards in the laptops and orcomputers with these router's wireless settings. Then the laptops and desktopcomputers can communicate with your wireless router.

How do i find security key so I can use laptop on my actiontec network.

The security key is the WEP or WPA or WPA2 encryption key that is configured in the router's wireless settings. You need to connect a LAN cable from your computer to your Actiontec, open a browser and enter the router's configuration URL then login to the router then go to the wireless settings for this info or to change the wireless settings.

To secure your wireless network from unauthorized access, please click on this link and follow my instructions :-

Wireless Connetion Password

by default your routers ip should be 192.168.0.1. type this in the address bar of your web browser. this should bring up your routers page. Navigate your way to the security settings, You should have to login at this point.
User names and passwords can be found here.
http://artofhacking.com/etc/passwd-actiontec.htm
try all of those and see which one lets you in.
now youre in simply choose a type of password WEP etc and create the password (one you will remember). This password will be required when you logon to the network. Windows should then remember the password for you. If you do forget the password which you wont (remember!) you can go back to your routers page and reset everything or just the password. This will take off the password or change it to what you want.

Hope this helped
Bob.

I need to put a password on my wireless router so neighbors cannot access my internet connection.

Access the configuration page of the router by typing in 192.168.0.1 on the address bar.
>Type in Admin/admin on your the log-in page and leave the password blank click ok.
>If you created a username and passsword used that one, if you forget your username and password reset the router for 15 seconds. Reset button is located at the back of your router and use admin on the login page.
>Once inside, click on HOME and on the left side choose WIRELESS
>Enables should be choosen.
>Under SSID, change your network name to a new one.
>Under Network Authentication choose WPA-PSK
>Key type would be passphrase
>Type in your password for your network. mimimum 8 character.
>Click on Apply >Continue.
>On your laptop, connect first to your wireless network before accessing the Internet.

Cannot connect to admin on GT704WG

try power off/on and then reset hold the reset in for at least 10sec - holding it in for 1-2sec is the same as power off - but i would still physically remove the power for at least 30secs remove all the lan cables - just plug in the one PC you use then hold the reset for 10secs 192.168.0.1 - is the default login - so should work now - if not the router is faulty whats the status of all the lights on the router
