I just got this Actiontec GT704WG modem/router. I reset the box and then tried to connect via web brouser and 192.168.0.1 but no response. I tried to ping that address and no response. I can sometimes ping 192.168.0.2 sometimes that works. Also, my wireless laptop will not pick up a signal from the GT704WG. It picks up signals from my neighbors, but not the modem/router siting right next to the pc. Do you think the GT704WG is bad? Anything else I can try?
The defaul user: admin and the password: password, this is when you have reset it to the factory reset botton on the back. The ip address is 192.168.1.1

Re:
Try power off/on and then reset hold the reset in for at least 10sec - holding it in for 1-2sec is the same as power off - but i would still physically remove the power for at least 30secs
remove all the lan cables - just plug in the one PC you use
then hold the reset for 10secs
192.168.0.1 - is the default login - so should work now - if not the router is faulty
whats the status of all the lights on the router

Sounds like you have Verizon software on your computer. The router has nothing to do with that. Go into control panel > add remove programs and remove the Verizon software.
All you need to correct is entering in the WEP key for the wireless network- you will connect, but will be unable to browse wirelessly otherwise. The WEP key is found on the bottom of the actiontec- unless you changed it to something else- at which point you would need to log into the modem to find out your WEP key.(192.168.1.1 on a working computer in internet explorer/safari/firefox, un/pw admin, password or admin, admin; wireless settings)
fist try to enter modem config site at 192.168.1.1
admin user: admin
admin pws: password
wireless setup
check if wireless is on
check chanel
las step
try this with ips suport is you reset mdoem it returns to factory settings
try to reset it with a paper clip or pen hold it for 20 seconds
Sounds to me as if the Actiontec GT704WG has died. If it is still under warranty, get it serviced. If it is not under warranty, You can try to find en electronic friend to take a look at it. If you do not have such a friend, Maybe someone else here can help you. But you might want to consider a new unit.
if this is fresh from the box, the factory default will be (username - admin) and the (password - admin). but if this already configured by the user before, all you have to do is restart it so that it will back into factory default.
simply press the "reset button" for 10 sec... then try to login as a factory default then configure it again
Username: "admin" and Password:"password", unless you changed it. If you did, just reset the modem to the factory settings by keeping the reset button pressed, and admin and password should work again.
According to the user's manual, the user interface doesn't seem to provide an option to "reset" the log. You can view it, and set how often it refreshes while you're looking at it, but I don't see any way to delete or reset the data.
