"Sat" stands for satellite signal. "Ter" shows the signal from a terrestrial repeater. It's not uncommon to have 0 bars on the Ter setting. Where is your antenna placed?

The FM antenna is insufficient. I there a way to improve reception? Another antenna that will fit?

To improve reception, use a 75 Ohm outdoor antenna instead of an indoor antenna. Disconnect the indoor antenna before replacing it with an outdoor antenna.

Kdl-37w55/57 sony bravia problem is every so often the picture seems to stutter, delay best way to describe it. Any ideas

hello, try tightening your antenna connection this happens when your signal input cable is fualty or loose check that first. then try all other connection that come from your cable, sat reciever or antenna hook up. if your using a digital reception device or digital antenna check those connections to. and be aware that digital reception has interuptions and they depend on the distance between you and the digital signal broadcast station, sometimes storms and atmospheric conditions may cuase a brief lapse in the signal.(stutter) what are you using for a reception? satelite, cable or a digital antenna? hope this helps

FM reception for Sony ICF-CD513?

The electrical cord acts as an antennae for this radio. Uncoiling the cord will give the best reception for FM. Rotating the radio (and built in ferrite bar antennae) will give the best reception for AM listening.

Reception is very poor. Grounding issues? Please

Reception has little to do with grounding. The ground plan is for transmitting. As long as the coax is connected and is in good standing, it should receive fine regardless of grounding.

There are a few reasons you may have bad reception.
  1. Turn the RF GAIN all the way up. This is your receive sensitivity.
  2. Squelch is too high. It should only be turned up enough to cut out the background noise.
  3. Poor antenna. If the antenna is cheap, and not made well, this could be the problem.
  4. Not enough of the antenna above the vehicle. It needs to be at least 60% of the antenna above the vehicle.
Hope this helps!

Tunning the antenna on radio shack cb trc-447

After installing the antenna, follow these steps to adjust the
standing wave ratio(SWR).
1. Turn on the CB.
2. Set S/RF/SWR/CAL to CAL.
3. Key the Mic and rotate SWR CAL so the meter points
to CAL.
4. Unkey Mic.
5. Set S/RF/SWR/CAL to SWR.
6. Key Mic again and note the actual measurement on
the SWR scale. Refer to the following table to interpret
the reading.

1:1 - 1.5 Great
1.5 - 2:1 OK
2:1 - 3:1 Not So Good
Higher than 3.1:1 Terrible

The ideal standing wave ratio (SWR) is 1:1, or a meter
reading of 1 on the SWR meter's top scale. A SWR ratio
of 1.5:1 to 2:1 is excellent for most mobile CB antenna
applications.

Check the SWR on Channel 1 and Channel 40
If the SWR is higher on 1, make the antenna longer
If the SWR is higher on 40, make the antenna shorter
Most antenna's are adjustable. Make small adjustments at a time.

What fitting is the external antenna is it mmxc?

Hi there,

I hope everybody visiting this webpage will find this answer useful.

First of all, ignore the antenna connector recommended within the RAC Sat Nav 200 manual, it's wrong.

What you need is the :

GPS Antenna 1M Length MMCX with a
180 degrees straight connector.

Make sure it's a MMCX straight connector.

Plug in the antenna and within half a minute of typing your postcode destination into the Sat Nav the reception will have been picked up.

Hope this saves everybody a lot of hassle.

Awful AM reception on Sony ICF-CD513 kitchen radio

You may have to use foil or other metal to extend the antenna artificially. I found years ago that even wrapping my hand around the end of it boosted the signal (though I'm sure you're not willing to listen to a radio while holding the antenna the whole time). I once sat a TV antenna on top of a portable CRT with its own internal ferrite antenna, and the video signal was about 80% there, audio 100%. This may be an inconvenient method, but it will guarantee at least most of the audio quality you want.
