With the unit unplugged take the case off and look on both sides of where the front of the tape would set, you will see two towers, one is a light and the other a receiver, check to see they are plugged in and not obstructed. Also there is a switch that the tape pushes when its all the way in which might be stuck, click it a couple times with your finger. This might help, there are other more complicated things which could cause this problem but mechanical problems are more likely.

Aiwa HV MX1SHV VCR. Where to install 3 new replacement belts (as in O-ring drive belts)

Question edited for clarity
Question moved from Cars and Trucks.

I can find anything, and what was termed a 'Service Manual' was in fact a parts manual. Try running the machine and you will see a pulley turning. The pulleys have to be in line. Put a belt on that one, and the pulley opposite it. Then see what that turns and follow the drive train.

Aiwa HV-MX1: tape won't eject from VCR and it switches off.

Turn over the VCR. Unscrew the base. You will see the 3 belts. Turn the rightmost belt clockwise or anticlockwise (don't remember) but you will see the tape hold mechanism moving down. Once it is all the way down, you can eject the tape out.

You may need to replace one or all 3 belts. This is being caused by belts being loose.

hope this helps.

Picture gets bad after playing a while

Just the usual problem of needing the rubber belts replaced.
They last about 6 years normally so you are overdue.
Buy a kit of belts for your model from all kinds of sites on the net and install them yourself if you are handy with delicate mechanisms.
Hope ya fix it!

No Color

did u try cleaning the video head? heres how! unplugged the unit. open the cover. get a piece of clean white paper. put a little alcohol on it. place your finger on the paper and slowly touch the head but not too much force then gadually move the drum back and forth. donot move your finger up or down. just clean it horizontally by slowly moving the drum leaving your finger stationary. let it dry and test. if the problem persist see a doctor(technician), u have a problem with the color circuits. good luck!
