I HAVE PRACTICALLY THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE NO.1 POST ON THIS P

I HAVE THIS GE JASCO 4- PORT USB HUB, AND ITS GIVEN ME A BUNCH OF **** EVER SINCE I GOT IT . THE NUMBER ONE PORT ( THE ONE BEING CLOSEST TO THE PC ) WORKS AND WILL LET A DEVICE WORK THRU IT. BUT THE OTHER 3 PORTS ARE TOUCH AND GO. T SEEMS TO HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE POWER USAGE OF THE DEVICE YOUR PLUGGING INTO IT. PORTS 2-4 ARE TOUCH AND GO THE WORK SOMETIMES IF i USE A LITTLE 256KBS FLASH DRIVE. BUT i TRIED PLUGGING IN A NUMBER OF EXTERNAL DRIVES AND A PRINTER INTO ALL THE PORTS AND NTHING WORKED. AND THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE THE PC RECOGNIZING THE DEVICE , IVE HAD IT FOR MONTHS AND IT STILL HASNT NOT HAD ANY UPDATES COME THRU THAT HAD ANY TYPE OF DRIVERS OR IT. I WENT TO THE GE SITE FIRST AND FOUND THE HUB BY SEARCH AND THERE WERE SEVERAL VERY SIMILAR DEVICES ALMOST MIROR IMAGES OF THIS PRODUCT. AND I COULD NOT GET ANY DECENT SUPPORT WITHOUT PAY SOMETHING LIKE 2 U.S $ . I DONT KNOW IF IT WAS PER INCIDENT OR MINUTE AT THAT POINT I CLOSED THE SITE. NO WAY I AM PAYING FOR SUPORT ON A USB HUB. SO i FOUND THIS SITE THRU GOOGLE AND LOOK HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD PROBLEM WITH IT AND ALOT OF THE TEMP. RELATED AND NEARLY CAUSING FORES. MINE ALSO RAN HOT AS HADES. , IM SORRY BUT IT SEEMS TO BE A LITTLE MUCH TRANSFORMER FOR THE DEVICE. IM GOING TO TRY USING THE DRIVER POSTED ON THE PREVIOUS PAGE , AND IF IT DOESNT WORK AND LET MY PC RECOGNIZE IT ITS GOING TO GET A REAL NICE REVIEW IN MY COLUMN . AND THROWN AWAY.

HAVE THE SAME PROBS, ITS A MATTER OF TOO MUCH JUIE INTO THE PORTS HUB. i WOULD SUGGEST EITHER FINDING A CORRECT DRIVER FOR IT OR TOSSING IT. MINE WONT REGONIZE IT AND I have 2 different programs for drivers driver dr. which is what they want you to buy under that link the solution is here . well driver dr. found it but I cannot get the driver to install as t unloads into the device then at the end the procedure . bottom line ts a loser.

You could maybe have a bad USB hub or the Hub is in a very warm area...

SOURCE: unrecognized usb devices

If they work without the the expansion unit, the unit is not passing the power through. Many work this way. Some will work with external power.

Rocketfish usb hub led off

The first question has a detailed answer about dismantling the hub to get at the LED connections and turn them off permanently. I want to install a switch - if/when I figure it out, I'll return here and post that.

I need a power adapter for a GE HO97878 4-PORT USB 2.0 Hub. I asssume it will be 5 5dc, but amp/mamps is the unkonwn.

Hi, I was asking the Same question about this adapter myself! I went to the GE.Com website, and they Sell it on there (the adapter). It's $9.95. When you look up this hub there, the option to buy the adapter is at the bottom of the page.
Hope this helps.

I lost the power chord for my GE USB 2.0 hub. What can I replace it with?

Generally these types of power cords are easily replaceable. You should be able to find out what specific cord/power supply you will need by calling the manufacturer or checking the included manual.

Overheating

We had a GE 7 port usb port and it overheated and melted----thank goodness I got up when I did or the house would have caught on fire. The only thing we had connected to the usb port was a APC battery backup unit. Any reason why the usb port overheated?
It was pugged into the battery backup unit and I am hesitant to rehook the computer up to the battery backup unit and also will not by another GE usb hub again and whatever hub we do use, I will not plug it into an outlet!
the computer was downstairs and I noticed the odor of electrical burning smell upstairs---the unit was bought nov 25, 2007 and we returned it to BJ'S for a refund today-----I do not reccomend this product to anyone.
