Click Start > Run > write msconfig > Click on StartUp tab

Assuming you are using windows 7...in the run window type msconfig

After the window opens up, click on the startup tab and uncheck anything that you don't want to start automatically when windows starts. Becareful in here though, you can disable your windows if you aren't careful. You may also want to run your antivirus to make sure that nothing is hogging your resources at start.
