You have to be the computers administrator to change any values on any hard drive on your computer.


Click start control panel user accounts on the users tab click the name of the computer administrator you must have full control


Click start click to open on my computer you should see your usb drive could be E: or something right click select properties there will be an array of options

select the sharing tab option then advanced sharing make sure you have a tick in the share this folder box


then click permissions make sure you have all 3 boxes ticked full control changes and read in windows 7


Click start control panel user accounts click on the administrators account if you have made one or you will have to create one in windows XP

First, please disconnect all USB devices and then perform the following steps:


Click "Start" button, type "devmgmt.msc" (without quotation marks) in the "Search" bar and press "Enter". Click "Continue" if necessary.



In Device Manager, double click to expand "Universal Serial Bus controllers", right click on the Host Controller, click "Uninstall" and click "OK".



Repeat the step 2 to uninstall all items under "Universal Serial Bus controllers".



Then, restart your computer and Windows 7 will reinstall all USB controllers automatically.

Click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll down universal serial bus controllers you could see a yellow question / exclamtion mark? ! or a Red X
right click to reinstall drivers.

If your computer came with a motherboard disk the drivers could be on it.

If you can see your usb drive but its not working
ports(com&lpt)right click update driver if this fails to fix the problem


Check the USB leads that attach to the motherboard usually red white green black make sure they are securely seated and have no dust build up on them dust will cause static and a lot of unforeseen problems for a computer and its parts.


Click start click on my computer you should see your usb drive
right click on it then select format

another way is to control panel administrative tools computer management disk management right click on your drive select format

Hello xanxi_uki, to "Format the Sandisk;
You can (right click), or 2x click to 'open' the "Computer" from the Desktop!
This will 'open' the Computer's Hard Disk Drives.

Or you can click on the "Start Button" and 'open' the "Computer."
Once you are in the Computer Drives; find the "USB Flash Drive."

In the Format UDisk (?), click on the "File System" [Drop down arrow "Box"].

Dont work and dont format

When the flash drive is inserted and is still detected Kingston, flash drives can be repaired and the data can be saved. Cause, there is damage to the partition table

Solution:
1. Save the data. To saved data, you can use EASEUS Data Recovery software.
2. After the data is saved, to fix the flash drive using the software HP Drive Key Boot Utility (Support Win XP, Vista, 7)

How to install the HP Drive Key Boot Utility to the operating system
Win XP: double click the file cp006049.exe - select Install
Win Vista & 7: double click the file cp006049.exe - select extrack

Hi , i hope in a certain way we can help you''' please insert your flash drive into your PC USB port then go to my computer and click to open then you will see the administrative tools click to open , then click computer management ,when it opened you can see disk management and click to open you will see your flash drive on an assigned drive letter, then on the drive where you can see your flash drive click right to follow what command do you wish to do , so click right and then click format to finish, just follow commands . . . . .

I have a transcend 4GB pendrive. it has become write protected due to virus. how can i format it. i have tried many processes but can't get my pendrive formatted.pls help

Some usb keys or flash drives have a little switch thatlocks it & makes it read only. Try looking for something like this. Or youtry following these steps:

For USBdrives:

1. Open Start -> Run...
2. type diskmgmt.msc and press enter
3. right click on the partitin you want to format (where the leter and is)
4. select 'Delete Partition...' and confirm
5. right mose button in the same place and select 'Create partition'
6. select primary partition
6. select , file format, disk leter, label etc should be all right if youleave defaults.
7. click ok

This will recreat the partition and format it in proper way.

I can't open my FLASH DRIVE it says that "please insert a disk into Floppy Disk Drive (E:), How can I open this? please help me.. I have only 1 flash drive and I don't have an extra money to...

First thing to do is to safely remove your flash drive..
then insert it again...

If it doesn't work then your final choice is to make loss of your data..
here's how.
on the icon shown from your flash drive right click
then format..
You can select quick format in there..
and there you go again,, you can use your flash drive now....
