Categorized | DS, Tips and Tricks 12 tips for NintendogsPuppies can only learn up to 14 voice commands so choose ‘em wisely

  1. Make sure your puppy is happy before he goes for a walk - he’ll find more good items
  2. Double-tapping on the screen will call all your puppies. Essential for commuter Nintendogging!
  3. The hunger-measurement thing pauses when they’re on a walk, so leaving it in sleep mode during a walk can save your **** if you won’t have time to feed your puppy for a day or two. Keep your DS charged though! (I haven’t tried this with multiple puppies. Let me know if it still works!)

  4. Long voice commands are more easily recognised than short ones
  5. Puppies won’t learn a command over time. I told my puppy to jump once a day for a week and got nothing. 5 times in one day and he got it.
  6. Check both shops whenever you go on a long walk. Sometimes they get in cool stuff like a keyboard or balloons or doggie treats when you have happy puppies!
  7. Puppies and balloons do not last long together. They’re pretty funny though.
  8. On long walks, yank your puppy’s leash to the right edge of the screen and hold it there. He’ll run along at a speedy pace to his next interesting point (or choke and whine, but just keep doing it and give him some lovin’ afterwards). Yank it to the top-right corner and he’ll jump like he’s hurdling! Pointless but cute.
  9. If you want to win at championship level, you better practice every day.
    • Disc competitions: Use the same disc every time, throw it far and throw it straight ahead. That’s all you need to know.
    • Agility trials: Just practice and be ruthless if your puppy does his little heartbreaking unhappy tail-down thing. Tough love works best and that little bugger knows exactly how cute he is.
    • Obedience trials: I don’t know, sorry. I **** at these.
  10. Lots of puppies means lots of food. 2 puppies will eat 2 bowls of food at a time.
  11. Lots of puppies also means lots of lovin’. You better have a lot of spare time if you want three championship puppies!
Hope this helps you

SOURCE: I can't train my dog

When he is sitting, use your stylus and pat his head, then drag it down his nose. He should lay down...then an icon appears on the top right of the lower screen. touch this icon. it then prompts you to speak the new command. This will take a few goes before your dog understands it but once he does, there will be little stars aroound him. So far 3 of my kids have got their dogs, to beg, sit, lay down, roll over and dance. Good luck :o) le

How To Train Your Puppy:

The easiest way to teach your puppy is with treat and a firm sense of authority. Dogs automatically follow orders from the "alpha Male/Female" and you must be sure that your puppy knows at a young age that person is you, not the dog. In order to establish this authority, you must do things like make your puppy sit before he gets his meal or sit before you let him on the couch. If you catch your puppy doing something bad, like chewing up your daughter's doll for instance, do not EVER hit your puppy. Raise your voice, do not yell, and make a noise to grab attention like an "EH, EH!" sound. Then when the puppy looks at you say no, don't do that, etc.
Another form of teaching your puppy you are in charge is to train him to sit, stay, lay down, and shake. Get a jerky-type doggie treat, one that will rub the smell in your hand, and break it apart. Then with a demanding tone say, "Sit." As you say this, put the treat in your hand and ball your hands into a fist. Put your fist by his nose and let him follow your hand backwards till he is sitting. If he stands up make that noise I told you about above and retry. Now when your dogs is sitting, give him the treat and say, "Good sit." This way your dog knows what he did correctly. Just saying good boy to your dog is good, but your dog will be thinking, "Yeah I know I'm a good boy, but what did I do?"! Do the same technique with any other tricks you want to make your dog do. This will help the dog understand that you are the one calling the shots.
If your dog has a problem with barking, the best way to overcome this problem is:
1. Figure out WHY your dog is barking.
2. If it is not a good reason (eg. cat is in yard, someone's walking by the house), wait until your dog starts to bark, grab a spray bottle filled with water and spray it directly between the eye. This won't harm your dog, just startle him. The dog will think oh I don't want that to happen again and won't bark as much.
3. When you leave your house try not to sound anxious. The dog will think you are expecting him to do something and will end up barking or tearing up the house! A majority of the time dogs tear up the house 20 minutes after you leave or 20 minutes before you come home (if you come home around the same time everyday, your dog will know your schedule). So, as you leave, put your dog outside and leave.
4. WALK YOUR DOGS!!! Dogs need to get out every once in a while and explore! If you do this two times a day for an hour or more each time, they will be too tired to bark or tear up your house!

How will I know when my leash training is working and my dog has been properly trained?

The first sign that your leash training has been successful will be the moment you realize that your leash can have some slack without your puppy trailing too far behind or pulling ahead.

How do I leash train my puppy?

Before you actually start leash training, I recommend attaching a leash to your dogs collar while at home and letting your puppy get used to the leash being there. After a few days, you can then begin leash training. During the beginning stages, you should walk your puppy on the leash without pulling/jerking. If your puppy starts to pull on the leash, I suggest standing still. This lets your puppy know that you do not want them to pull on the leash. Always use positive reinforcement while leash training. Below I have attached a link to a site that helped me leash train my dog.

New game first dog keeps forgetting its name

Try keeping your voice the same tone. Or you can reset the entire game by pressing ABXYLR while on the "Nintendo" screen. If the problem continues, try checking your microphone for any foreign material.

Mic

At the very first beggining, when you come in with your 1rst puppy, follow the instructions. When it says to give your puppy a name, you will have the mic icon in the middle of the screen. Tap with your pen and then say the name, but not too far of your DS. You will see, during you say the name, like a colored "timer" on the mic icon. For the tricks, when your puppy is doing a thing, for exemple, sit or roll over, a bulb icon with show off in the up-right corner of your touch screen. Tap it with the stylus, and do the same thing : say the name of that trick ( ex."roll over"). You will see the colored mic timer and your puppy will save the information with little stars around its head. You have to repeat it like 4-5 time before it really knows it and do it again. It depend on the puppy ( some are 3-4 time, some more...) I hope it answered your question. You can visit this site http://www.gamefaqs.com/portable/ds/file/928837/39820 you have a whole section on the very beggining.
It's hard sometime...I just passed 30 minutes to get the dog a name he remembered...Choose a name that you can repeat with the EXACT same intonation.

Nintendogs

Try to touch the dog using the touch screen below, thereafter, the dog will notice that and come to you. Try this for a few times, then it will instruct you to record the pup's name via the microphone.
