You just set the plug into the hole and tap it in evenly till it is seated-easy to do if you have enough room to work. Another option is to buy a rubber expansion plug and fit it in the hole. As you tighten the center nut on the expansion plug, it expands the rubber to seal the hole. Works great, where room to work is a problem.

How to chage afreeze plug ?

You must extract the freeze plug from the engine block, either using an extractor or a chisel, then clean the freeze plug seat of all debris and corrosion, then carefully install the new freeze plug using a wood block and mallet. Depending upon the location of the freeze plug, either adjacent components (exhaust pipes, starter, accessory brackets, etc.) must be removed for access. If the freeze plug is in a particularly difficult location, the engine may need to be removed from the car to service the freeze plug (in extreme circumstances).

I am trying to install a block heater because I am heading north to Alberta.

Block heaters are installed in place of one of your freeze plugs on the engine. Drain the coolant and knock out a freeze plug to install. Directions are included with the block heater, including usually which freeze plug to put the heater in, and the orientation of the heater in the freeze plug hole.

How do i change freeze plugs in a 1989 ford f150

To replace the freeze plugs you will need to locate the one to replace, sometimes you will have to remove things like an engine mount or bracket all depending on which plug you are replacing, using a pry bar and hammer hit the side of the plug this will make it spin and then pry it out, clean engine block hole with emrey cloth and then install new plug, its advised to use a freeze plug install tool to help avoid damage and proper install of the freeze plug, good luck, heres a picture of the install tool,

Do u have any instructions on replacing freeze plug on 1995 gmc jimmy with a vortec

If a freeze plug is bad, leaking, then a replacement can be bought at the auto parts store.
Installation is a reverse of the removal, if you have room.

If you have a lack of room to tap the new freeze plug in with a ball peen hammer, then you may try a screw in rubber/metal disc type freeze plug that expands as you turn a nut on a stud to fill the circular hole in the block where the freeze plug was originally installed at the factory.

The part costs under $6 in my area at advance auto parts.

I hope this helps.

How do you install a block heater on a chevy aveo 2006?

A block heater is installed in one of the freeze plug ports in your block. Drain your cooling system. Then drill a small hole i the center of the freeze plug and screw a self tapping screw into the hole. You can the use a claw hammer or something similar to pull the freeze plug. Then you just install the block heater in the freeze plug's place. Refill your cooling system and let it get up to full temperature checking carefully for leaks. Please rate my answer.

How do i change a freeze plug on a 1999 dodge durango

what is location of freeze plug? there is the standard way that you remove the old plug with a flat punch on one side of the freeze plug knocking one side in till it becomes ca-di corner then grab the other end with a pressure pliers pulling the plug out, to install i use a socket the same inside diamiter as the new plug, line new plug up to block gently tap into block until it is installed just below bevled edge,if you have limited acess you can also get an expanable rubber plug that fits suggly into freeze plug hole then tighten the bolt on outside the rubber plug that expands the plug (this is a temp fix)
