SOURCE: PXE-E61:Media Test Failure

you got that error message because your harddrive isnot detected so it try to boot from network and you don't have OS in the network.

Most of the time is your hdd is dead. In some cases the motherboard is dead.

You can replace your hdd.
for OS (vista vs XP), if you have enough rams and high cpu, you should install vista, but for me, I prefer XP.
for the price, you should call microsoft seller.

check your harddrive, is it detected in bios ?
if no, it could be motherboard or hdd, but most of the time is hdd problem, so just replace it.
if yes, your operating system is corrupt, so you can reload your operating system.

SOURCE: PXE-E61: media test failure check cable

The PXE-X61 error means that the laptop cannot detect the hard drive. This can be caused by a faulty disk controller, or a faulty disk drive.
1st. Reseat the hard drive and see if the laptop boots up.

2nd. Go into the BIOS configuration and see if the BIOS detects the hard drive.

3rd. If the BIOS can't detect the hard disk, the remove the hard drive and connect it to an USB hard drive adapter and plug it into a working computer's USB port. If this computer detects this drive as an external disk drive and you can see the contents of the hard drive, then the hard drive is OK and the fault is in the laptop.

4th. If the hard drive cannot be detected then the hard drive is faulty, you need to replace the faulty hard drive in your laptop and install Windows to get an operating laptop again.

Why is my Acer Aspire 5670 crashing?

Definitely a hard drive failure, pull the hardrive out if its no longer under warranty(the pc) and you can get hard drive tested kits that allow you to hook up the hard drive to a working pc and test the hard drive for errors, some are so fried they wont even read. The chirping sounds sounds worst case scenario. But it is deffinately a hard drive failure.

Sir ,i have acer aspire 4520 laptop .when i boot my laptop it will show message below pxe-e61 media test failure ;check cable existing nvidi boot agent and my laptop loss display for sometime & again...

Usually when a computer displays a "Media Test Failure" message, it is a good indicator that the hard drive is/has failed. The solution would be to replace the hard drive in the laptop.

I GOT THIS MESSAGE TODAY PXE-E61 MEDIA TEST FAILURE CHECK CABLE WHEN I TRIED TO BOOT MY ACER ASPIRE 5630 THIS MORNING. IS THERE A QUICK FIX FOR THIS? EXITING BROADCOM PXE ROM OPERATING SYSTEM NOT FOUND

It is trying to bbot up using network boot because it cannot find OS on the hard drive, you can turn off the network in the BIOS setup page, but more likely you have problem with the hard drive or the OS is corrupted.

Acer Aspire 5100-5674 won't boot. Keyboard won't work, mouse initializes. PXE-E61 : Media Test Failure then PXE-M0F : Exiting PXE ROM I really need some help, I just bought it. And would really like to...

PXE errors are generated by the network boot ROM. In other words, the boot process is attempting a network boot (your BIOS' 4th boot option), which means that your system was unable to boot from a HDD, CD-ROM, or USB device (the first 3 boot options).

PXE-E61 Media Test Failure, System won't boot:

1.Go to Bios Settings
2.Remove LAN booting from booting options...For laptop ,type "X" on the LAN booting option.
3.Save The configuration

Also verify if your harddisk is detected by BIOS
