My Aprilaire 560 is not producing humidity for our house. Outside temp is 20 degrees, inside humidity is 20% and won't go higher. I have replaced the water panel -- no change. There is water going into the panel, but a trickle. I assume the valve might be plugged. (It was replaced last year). I can I best clean it?

Turn off the saddle valve going to the humidifier. Remove the water lines going into the solenoid valve. Clean the filter screen and the orifice in the water lines right next to the solenoid valve.

Hi,
Sounds like you are not getting the proper voltage to the solenoid valve...
Check for 24v coming off of the transformer...that may be 24vac not vdc...

Then check to see if there is power coming from the humidistat...
unhook the wires to check for the power at the solenoid valve...
check across the two wires...

if there is power the valve is bad and that alone will cost about 90 bucks with shipping...
if there is no power trace back and see where the power stops at...

Aprilaire manual humcontrol 4655 hum 560 .when control clicks works fine.move dial to outside temp never works changed 4655 twice i have 28\r\nvolts ac all the time

When humidistat is at ouside temperature that may be a lower humidity setting than is in your home. Doesn't sound like there is a problem. If it is too dry in home you can set it above ouside temp to turn on. The ouside temp setting is estimate that you will not get condensation on windows.

Does setting the dial to a higher number mean there will be more humidity in the system or lower humidity?

By setting the humidistat to a higher setting means that there will be more humidity produced by the humidifier. Depending on what the outside temp is that will determine what setting it should be set at.

Our house is extremely humid and the a/c needs to be set lower to feel cooler. What are we doing wrong regarding aprilaire humidifier on our furnaces? Shouldn't they be turned off? yet the directions...

Hello
It depends on personal preferance,an air conditionner is going to remove humidity or water from the home,as water contains heat.

I would shut off the humidifier. The 40% setting depends on where in the world your located, say nevada is dry and hot so you may want a humidifier.Where florida is hot and humid so you would want to dehumidify or get rid of the humidity.

Lower the setting to 20% or just turn it off.

Have a large new house with lots of vinyl clad wood double hung windows on a lake temp today this am is 0 F we have a HRV system house temp is 66 downstairs and 58 upstairs heating with a heat pump and...

Really not efficent to run a heat pump at those temperatures. Below freezing is not good for the compressor in the outside unit. The humidity in the house with the low temp. is causing the condensation on the windows to freeze. Kinda like an air conditoner does in the summer without the freezing humid air from the house goes over the cold a/c coil and the moisture condensates on the coil running down to drain pan. raising the temp. in the house and lowering the humidity should help. I would also recommend running the electric heat in low outside teperatures.

Aprilaire 560 will only click and flow water when turned to "test" does not work in any other settings?

Humidity must be hi enough in the house or Humidistat is not working. Do you any way to check humidity in the house?
If the Humidistat is set as Automatic, try to leave it as Manual.

Water only runs with humidistat in test/reset mode. Aprilaire 600 with an Aprilaire 56 Automatic Humidistat, both about 5 years old. Water line is clear, and test mode runs fine for the 1 minute interval....

you need to make sure your humidity level in the house isnt higher then what your humidifier will provide at any givin outdoor temp. this chart is in the owners manual. you cant remove the wires going to the ODS or it will give an error unless you have a resistor to put in its place. Anyway if the humidifier works in test mode according to AA it works so you may have higher humidity than you think, the highest your gonna get is 45% as the temp outside drops it will allow less humidity so it doesnt cause window condinsation (property damage) here is a copy of the chart. the #s on the left are the dial setting
