The Cam just shut off. It won't take battery charge. The Charge light blinks as it is...but it doesn't. Also, will not work with the power cord since it shut off. HELP!!!!
Were the battery goes there is a cover with a silver screw holding it on. There is a flex behind it that sometimes comes loose and causes the problem you have described. Remove the screw and cover and push on the part behind the cover. I work at canon and when we get a model like yours that usually is he problem.

A laptop won't last long without being charge, a fully charge battery should last about 1hr 30mins so charge the battery while your watching a movie next time.
This is usually caused by a failed component in the power circuit within the camera and can usually be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired qualified service technician.

never buy a canon. i have the same issue and it is not easy to fix. i dissasembled the thing already but too complicated. the lithium memory battery inside too is non user replaceable as it is illustrated in the manual. you got to have it serviced to replace it because that small battery is soldered. poor buyers....
If your Optura 40 A video camera will not recharge and nothing is functioning on the camera, there are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue:
Make sure that the battery charger is properly plugged in and functioning.
Check the connections between the battery and the charger. Make sure that the battery is properly seated in the charger and that the connections are clean and secure.
If the backup battery is out of juice, it could be causing the issue. Try replacing the backup battery to see if that resolves the problem.
If the battery charger and backup battery are functioning properly and the camera is still not charging, there may be an issue with the camera itself. You may want to try contacting Canon customer service for further assistance. They will be able to provide you with more specific troubleshooting steps based on your particular camera and the issues you are experiencing.
I hope this helps! If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to ask.
i just bought the cam can you tell me how long it takes to charge the battery . i have had it on charge overnight and i stiil have a red light the cam works when it is pluggedn in but as soon as i unplug it nothing works. the reading on the camera is saying that the battery is full
This incident happens often and damages the camcorder's power board. Replacing power board and some adjustment should resolved the problem. Your cost may run from $175-$225 in US for this model. Whenever you are transfering and connecting to pc, it is recommended to connect AC adapter power for this. Do not rely on a charged battery. Good luck.
Thank you. I tried this. Still...the same.
