Cant get the power to work on a xd1222

When I hook up the wires correctly I cant get the power to come on, however, when I hook up all the yellow and red together the power does come on, but it is continuous power and it wont shut off even when the car is off. Suggestions?

If the radio is correctly installed and, there is no power on the vehicle's accessory wire when the key is turned on, check the vehicle's radio fuse. If you connect the red to constant 12 volt along with the yellow radio memory wire the stereo WILL NOT TURN OFF. There is nothing strange about that.

the factory radio is databuss, like a computer, comparable to modern call phones. they sell an interface module that plugs into the factory harness plug, and you wire into that.

I'm trying hook up an aftermarket car stereo and i cant figure out where to hook the orange and orange/orange and white wire. I need the factory wire diagram

http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii320/RonJ_HCF/picture_2980.jpg

The picture says it is for 1999-2000 models, but also works for 1998.

Honda does not have orange wires, i checked a Pioneer and it doesn't either. Could it be that the yellow wires look orangeish?

Be careful, because many aftermarket units have 3 power wires: Unswitched (memory cable), switched (power cable) and dimmed (match the dashboard illumination intensity). Also, most aftermarket units have a power out, to activate the power antenna. Connecting this cable in the wrong position will probably lead to a serious short.

check the fuse behind the stereo and in your fuse box first off and make sure the power wire/ignition wires are on the correct pin. do this with a test light for verification. also check the ground wire. after you test and connect these 3 wires, the stereo should turn on. Your wiring harness may not be done correctly so visual verification with a test light would be the best thing before starting a car install. If this still does not work and the stereo you took out did, it is a malfunctioning unit.

you more than likely have the red/yellow wire (coming out from the back of the radio) reversed. the orange wire is usually for the dimmer feature and is not necessary to hook up. The red wire needs to be hooked to an accessory wire (i.e. send power when you turn the car on and goes to ground when the cars off) and the yellow wires needs a constant power source (i.e. always on from the battery) the yellow wire lets the radio retain memory.

NO POWER TO MY DECK

Hello clarky909,

On your Alero, the 12V constant wire is ORANGE and should connect to the YELLOW wire coming from the DEH-2300 wiring harness. 12V switched on your Alero is YELLOW and should be connected to RED coming from the DEH-2300.

Hope this helps.

Re sent wire diagram gat all messed up

Hi
have we spoke before in previous post?
the red can go to any 12v live peramanent such as wire to clock or other item that has power with ignition off and the same with the yellow if your putting these to the same permanent live say from clock you can join these to together red/yellow to red on clock
the black can go to any metal or neg wire.
This should then have your device working the only problem im looking at for you now is the pink wire as this stops you using the device whilst driving as it goes to handbrake but i need to find out if its live or negative.
You could just wire the red/yellow to live and black to earth then see if it switches on and works if not then let me know and ill see about the pink wire ok
Makes sure you use inline fuses on the live wires so as not to short the device out.
Make sure you know what is permanent live to put the yellow/red wire to.
It doesnt need to be ignition it only says this so you cant use it with ignition off but you can wire it into any live feed from clock or switches so its up to you what to wire it to its just the pink wire im concerned about.

PINK: does it tell you to put it to live or earth on handbrake switch?

let me know ok
