I just installed a used steering columm in this 1997 grand am and everything hooked up but 1 small plug and i cant seem to find out where it goes i need a wiring diagram so i can see whats up with can any body help

go on the internet search for remote start companies you will find one with a wiring diagram, it does not have to be a diagram for a grand am, you just want to know which wire to cut, the use an ohm meter (cost $8) to find the resistance value. go to radio shack get a resistor of that value (or a group of resistors of that value) connect the cut wires with the resistor inbetween and the car should start.you will have to remove the instrument cluster and starter switch to get at the wires, it really isnt that bad.
you can call technical support for Pontiac and they can mail or email you the wiring diagram.. if not then you can get it from PepBoys the Repair Book which shows all diagrams for this particular vehicle
