Have u made sure that the out let has power yet? if not check fuse box.
next, if has power to outlet, manually press power button not remote controll, after it has been unplugged for some time. view the back pannel of tv. and see if there is a fuse or fuse notification. follow manufactuar or owners manual instructions from here, google vizio support or call 888 849 4623 with model and info ready

Is there a reset button on tv? tv went out in a thunderstorm last night and will not come back on.

Hi Anne,
It is not a case of reset. The power supply section of your TV is damaged in the thunder storm. It is a common thing happening to TVs. Yes, sometimes, if you are lucky you escape with small damage like fuse and a few safety components. Otherwise you may have to replace the entire power board. Please consult some local TV tech,
Good Luck.

Satellite internet losing service during storm

I just got satellite internet service a few months ago and it has been going OK until there was a thunderstorm last night and more rain today. The internet has not been working very well, coming in and out in spurts. I got my dish from Calera at http://www.calera.biz. Does anyone know how to fix their dishes specifically and figure out how to make the internet work better? Spray TEFLON coating on dish

I have vizio sv470m and all of the 4 hdmi plugs stopped working one at a time.

Power doesn't have to be knocked out for a cable box to destroy the HDMI ports on a TV. Thunder miles away will put voltage spikes on the cable system which in turn trashes the main board in the TV. You can get parts for your TV here: TV Parts Universal TV Stands DLP Chips ShopJimmy

My Sharp Aquos LC-26D44E-GY in the spare room has stopped working. It worked ok about 2 weeks ago, went to switch it on last night & its dead. We had a thunder/lightening storm last week? Ive changed...

First check your power outlet, try connecting the TV to a different power outlet. Then see whether the LED light on the TV is on or blinking. Anyhow, this might need attention by a qualified service technician.

Can a thunderstorm cause a tornado then?

Well yes it all depends on the thunder storm type like heavy thunder storms have a higher chance or creating a tornado compaired to light thunder storms and also it needs the right amount of humidity to run and the hot and cold air mix toghter too.

We had a lightning storm last night. The tv was working after the storm and was left on all night . This morning all that was on was the VIZIO light on the front and it will go off and on with the remote....

Sadly, only testing of each component can suggest the extent of damage. Many years ago, lighting can in through the window of my living room, hit the TV, blew the knobs off the TV (that date's me), shot into the kitchen and shattered the kitchen counter top. What I want you to take from that is that the course of a power surge is a bit unpredictable. No one can guess how far it got until you find a lamp that works.

Visio 42" 1080p wont power up

Sounds like the power supply section in your tv has a bad component. Probably a bad capacitor or a surface mounted diode. One thing is for sure: something has shorted and is causing your power supply section to not fire up. Suprising to me because Visio has a good track record.
