Most drain plugs are universal, check your local hardwarwe. That is where I found mine.

Testimonial: "Great idea, it didn't realize universals were available. Thanks"

SOURCE: I have a Clarke SHHH air 2/9 compressor

I also have a Clarke SHHH 2/9 with the same problem. I sent it off to machine mart service dept. in Nottingham who quoted £189 to replace a faulty pump. Am not going ahead with repair since replacement cost is only £250. Cost sending to Nottingham (from local machine mart) & cost of estimate & cost of return (to local machine mart) was £24 which I thought was reasonable. Very unimpressed with compressor itself wich failed after only light use.

Why is my mid 70's 2cylinder Worthington shop air compressor ( for powering pneumatic tools) suddenly leaking the compressed air out of the tank, back up through the air filter ?

You will probably have reed valves inside the head. One may be bent or broken or you may have simply blow a head gasket which is easy to fix. just google reed valves in a air compressor and you will see the setup.
You will need to take the head off which will be 6 or 8 bolts and have a look. Not hard If it is a gasket it will only cost you $30 or $40 for a kit.

Air compressor model no. 921.153101 blowing air trough air cleaner

If you get air movement out of the air cleaner and it only compresses air to 25psi, you have bent or broken reed valves in the head. Take the head off the cylinder and inspect the valve plates and reed valves. This is a Craftsman compressor so you'll most likely have to get parts through Sears at www.searspartsdirect.com. For best results replace everything between the head and cylinder; gaskets, valve plates and reed valves.

Broken reed valve , need valve ,head gasket

These parts are easy to make. For reed valve, use feeler gauge material or old feeler gauge. This material is easy to cut or grind to size. Gaskets are a bit tricky but material is very cheap and with a little practice, you can make good replacement. If the old gasket was paper, use automotive gasket material sold at all autoparts stores. It is easier to cut thin gasket material so buy thinner than needed and layer. If the gasket is metal, use shim stock or beer / soda can). Good luck with your repair.

I have a Central Pneumatic, 21 Gallon, 3HP air compressor. The compressor is exiting air through exthaust port.

If air leaks when motor is off, fault most likely in-tank check valve. Follow discharge air line from pump to tank. Brass/steel valve at tank is the check valve. Remove hose to valve and check for leak. Replace as needed. If air is leaking while motor is running fault could be reed valves in head. Faulty reed valves in head, or torn head gaskets will cause very hot discharge air and tank will most likely never fill to shut off (or take a very long time to fill)

Need to know where the 2 little metal pices go between the head and block and gasket model ac2003 it runs fine just no air after i changed the head gasket

if you're not getting pressure those may be your valves, are they flat thin metal pieces, looks something like feeler guage material. if they are they go on the top of the valve plate to keep the air from reentering the cyl. head

I have a craftsman 1hp 4 gal compresor. It's not building pressure and air is pumping out of the air filter not in???

sounds like reed valves are bad, sometimes you can take the reed valves and flip them over for short fix, best to put new one in unit.
