Computer won't recognize ipod nano (fatty)

I have 2 ipods. A fatty and an ipod classic.

My computer will recognize the classic but not the fatty. However when I do connect the fatty it does recharge.

I tried connecting to other computers and they recognize the nano.

I've tried the 4 r's but that doesn't work.

One interesting tid bit when I connect the nano it makes 2 connection sounds not one.
