I bought the craftsman yard blower vac model 358.794774 less than a year ago. I tried to start it this weekend to do some clean up and couldn't get it started. Would not fire at all. Nothing. Put clean gas in, nothing, there is spark, wouldn't fire when I tried to put gas directily into the cylinder.

One suggestion, unscrew the spark plug and reconnect the high voltage wire. In a very dark area move the plug so that the plug thread touches some metal on the engine. Pull the starter cord. If you don't see a spark, remove the two screws on the handle and see if two wires are attached to the Stop Engine Switch. Remove one wire and bend it away from metal and try to see spark when pulling the start cord. If spark occurs, the Switch is shorted and needs replacing.

Hi
Priming the engine(put some gas in the sparkplug hole ,after you have checked the sparkplug, the colour of the spark has to be violet).Start the engine. If it starts there is a carburation problem, change the fuel lines to primer bulb.
wish you good luck savumihai71
SOURCE: Died and will NOT start.
I experienced a similar problem with mine and I replace the little plastic tube that is immersed into the fuel. It had some stuff in it and preventing fuel from getting to the engine. It was only about 1.50 to replace.

You may need to do two more additional things.
First, check the fuel lines for cracks/breaks.
If they are o.k.,then you will need to disassemble the carburetor and spray with carb.cleaner. Make sure the small screen in the carb. is free of debris. Usea Den Tek Brush, (http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=165357&catid=1152), to clean the small portals in carb. Reassemble and start.
(NOTE: If the cleaning doesn't work, then buy a carb. kit abd replace all appropriate parts.)
If you need further assistance, just let me know.

become blocked. Reassemble and start.
