Sounds like I have the same problem, my dryer is a Performa and I noticed that the tops comes off but not sure how to do that. Do I have to take the top off to get to the rollers? Also, if the drum got to hot would that make it squeal? I'm thinking there might have been a crimp in the exhaust hose. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.

The lint filter is at the bottom of the dryer. I don't see anyway to loosen the top in the front. The back has two brackets that can be removed and allow the top to be lifted slightly as the wires are connected and don't leave much room. The front is attached with two kind of Screws? can't really see.

Any further advise would be appreciated!!!

Take the dryer apart and oil the drum support rollers and the idler pulley. If this does not fix it. Replace the support rollers and the idler pulley. To acces the rollers, take the 2 screws out under the lint filter and then raise the top of the dryer. then remove the 2 screws holding on the front. Take the front off and remove the drum and theres the rollers and the idler pulley. (taking apart the dryer applies to a whirlpool, kenmore, roper, kitchenaid, estate.) If you have another brand let me know i will tell you how to take it apart. (if oiling doesnt fix it your local parts store should have all the parts needed in stock.)

My dryer is squealing and won't spin

It sounds like the drum is frozen. The squealing is from the motor slipping on the belt. There may also be something keeping the belt from tightning. Try these links:

Dryer squealing

Squealing on dryers is often caused by fibres accumulating around the front of the drum. Does pushing/twisting the dryer out of it's normal shape stop or change the squealing? Does it squeak if you turn it by hand?

If so unplug the machine and make sure it's cool, remove top and side covers (normally pretty easy) and give the inside a good vacuuming with a crevice tool, if you can get to the air chamber at the back of the drum that's where most of the offending fluff will be as it gets through the filter and fired into the back of the machine.
Put it back together any you're done.

Kenmore series 80 Gas Dryer, in back of the dryer there is a fan at the bottom that squeals when I turn the dryer on. Is this easy to replace or oil to resolve the squealing. Suggestions are...

that fan runs off the motor shaft and can be lubed with some spray lube,, be sure that its not the belt thats squealing, check it for cracks, and bare spots

My dryer is squealing and have to run it twice to get my clothes dry

the squealing/squeaking noise is more then likely your drum rollers:

the drying twice is a venting issue:

Continual squealing when dryer is on. I am told that there is no belt in this dryer to cause the problem. Problem has happened on three different occassions since purchse 3 years ago. Have had repair...

Get a new repairman, pretty sure there is a drive belt. The squealing may be caused by bad rollers. The drum rides on rollers, they look like rollerblade wheels. If one of those has gone bad, it will cause the squealing noise.

Kenmore 400 dryer squealing noise

A little lubricant on the pulleys near the belts will go along way. Its vereasy to access these parts front the back of the machine with a 1/4 hex head screwdriver.
