Hook a spare monitor to the video ouput usually on the back, if picture okay! the problem is the new LCD screen or video cable which you replaced, if both show the same symptom it is the video graphics card normally built into the motherboard.

SOURCE: Acer Laptop Screen Flickering

The flickering screen indicates that it is a backlight problem with either a faulty inverter or inverter connection problem. The inverter is usually located at the bottom edge of the LCD screen, and may have one or two connectors (one for the video info. and one for the inverter power or a combined connector) attached to the motherboard under the case near the top edge of the keyboard near the hinges. Reseating these connectors may solve your problem.

SOURCE: IBM Thinkpad screen flickers

Good afternoon!
From what you've described, I'd suspect that the video chip is starting to separate from the mother board. This is not an uncommon happening with the T41s. In fact, I have personally had it happen to me. So much for the sad story, but what do we do about it?

First, we do some diagnostics to verify that this is the problem. The next time this happens, try pressing down on the following location of the keyboard area. Place two fingers of your left hand on the keyboard cover, just below the left end of the space bar and and to the left of the red and blue mouse buttons. Firmly press down and see if it will start working again. If that doesn't work, try placing the thumb of your left hand in the area that you placed your fingers. With the fingers of your left hand, reach around and firmly lift the lower left hand corner of the laptop a little bit (maybe 1/8 to 1/4 inch). This will flex the motherboard and can cause the video chip to properly contact the motherboard.

If this works, you have pretty much verified that this is the problem. Also, if this seems to work, get back to me for a possible short term fix and what needs to be done to fix it permanently.

One other word of advice, if you haven't done it yet. Back up everything that you need to save, just in case.

Will be waiting to hear from you and have yourself a super day!

SOURCE: ACER 4315 flickering screen (very bad)

  1. First since it is only 3 months old. Bring it back to where you purchase it so that you can avail of the warranty.
  2. If for any reason you cant do that then try the following
  • Turn off your laptop
  • remove the LCD bezel by removing the rubber and screws
  • try to reinsert the cable that attaches the monitor to the INVERTER. The inverter is the one lighting up the screen. Usually this is located at the bottom of the screen
  • if this doesnt work then try to remove the LCD panel and reinsert the flex cable located at the back and see what happens
NOTE: make sure when you remove cable and re inserting them in, your laptop should not be attached to ac or battery.

i hope i was able to help

SOURCE: Sony Vaio Laptop VGN-CR240E LCD screen flickering

Hi - I have replaced lots of LCD screens,it can be done

HOW TO REMOVE LCD PANEL OF MY ACER LAPTOP.

First ===>>> Remove all power and battery

Each machine is different in construction and size,
but they operate in the same fashion, motherboard, power inverter, lcd panel and cable connecting them together, also there may be a wireless aerial and or camera as well inside the lids frame housing the lcd screen so be careful while dismantling the front frame,it should be a good tight fit,

the lid has a base and a front panel covering the workings of the screen and wiring in a compact frame, remove the screws from the front panel and lift the front frame free from the base, remove the power panel by the screen next to the keyboard this should expose the motherboard insides, then unplug the inverter from the screen, unscrew the screws holding the the frame and carefully lie the screen on a flat surface to unplug the data cable from the rear of the screen, top of the screen rear contains IC chips required to make the pictures,
DO NOT TOUCH THESE >>> STATIC KILLS

It dosent mater if the screen is already dead just remember this when you fit the new screen

Hope this helps,Misterdj

SOURCE: screen flickers and goes black on my samsung R700

I have found the problem with my r700 screen flick. If you hold the sides of the screen and pinch them it brightens which is a loose conection. This is a fault witht he design. You may notice that its quiet stiff to open the R700 screen and this puts stress on it. seeing most people open from the centre this bends the edges causing a loose conection.
You need to take out the LCD and check all conections are all in ok. Then make sure the LCD is firmly in place before putting back together and tight.
Mine is now working like when i bought it.
HAPPY DAYS !!!!!

Ive got the Samsung R519, just bought a new battery for it but doesnt seem to have made a great deal of difference, its only 2yrs old! Wont turn on when on adapter & battery removed & no charging...

From the description you have motherboard issues, sub out the ram memory one at a time to see if you can get it started, no change! the dc jack in the laptop is a common source of trouble from no power to intermittent operation, at this point the laptop will need to be taken apart for further examination.

My samsung r519 laptop is not charging i have bought a new charger dont know why not charging could it be the battery

the most likly suspect is the socket in the laptop, after some time they get warn and the connections on the motherboard come loose if you take it to a pc repair centrue for a fee they can disassemble the laptop and re solder the socket to the board.

What's your problem? On going problems with Samsung R519 laptop after all the advise I tested laptop on separate monitor and it worked fine with no problems I bought new screen lead and still had p

The external monitor has proven there is no problem with the video graphics card, I'am concerned that customers have complained about faulty screens.
I have changed a lot of displays without issue, there is a major circuit board mounted behind the screen that plays a roll in picture production so if something goes wrong you get all kinds of symptoms from fuzzy images to multi color lines to a blank screen. I would suggest getting your money back because of his track record, also go online to Samsung and contact customer support and the technical department to see if something was over looked. Question! is this a new or used LCD display?

I bought new screen of ebay but it flickers

Did you check both ends of the LCD Screen cable? The end that goes behind the lcd screen at the top and also the other end that attaches on the board. Also put a piece of tap over where the connections meet on the lcd screen to keep it in place.

Did you reseat (unplug then plug back in) the 2 cables that are in the LCD Inverter located at the bottom of the LCD Screen?

Screen keeps flickering diffrent colours on laptop

I don't believe admonishing someone, for their selection of place where they bought a part, is considered a solution.

[Not sticking up for Ebay, or the sellers, but you wouldn't believe the number of computer parts I have purchased, and with only one bad deal. {Money returned, however}

Therefore I offer the following solution;

DIAGNOSE

1) Let's start with the basics, j_patterson9

Primer:

An LCD screen cannot produce light by itself. It needs an additional light source.
A Backlight is the additional light source.

A Backlight can be a CCFL or a series of LED lights.

The Samsung R519 series of Notebook PC's can come with either one. Just depends on what option was chosen.

http://www.laptopscreensreplacement.co.uk/2011/08/samsung-np-r519-r520-r530-rf510-rf511.html

(Read the above all the way down)

Now,....which version was your old LCD screen?
Which version is the replacement LCD screen?
They will NOT interchange.

Also,...an LCD screen, and a screen Inverter are a MATCHED unit.

A CCFL is a Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp.
Similar to Fluorescent lighting used in homes, and businesses, but on a MUCH smaller scale;

Average Width of the lamp (Bulb) is 2mm. That is a little larger than 1/16th of an Inch.
Average Length is almost as tall as the LCD screen.

Just so you can see an average CCFL used for a Backlight,

http://www.laptoprepair101.com/laptop/2007/12/09/replace-laptop-backlight-ccfl-lamp/

A screen Inverter is used to convert the power from the laptop, for the Backlight, and LCD screen.

The thin plastic frame in front of the LCD screen, is the Display Bezel.

(Also may be referred to as LCD Bezel, Display Panel Bezel, and I'm sure a few others I'm forgetting at the moment. It's up to the individual laptop manufacturer as to the name )

Right behind this plastic picture frame looking object, (Display Bezel), and mounted towards the bottom of the LCD screen, is the Inverter.
(screen Inverter)

This small circuit board could have received damage also.
ESPECIALLY if the video cable was damaged.

Just an example of the screen Inverter,

http://samsungweb.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=161

1) LCD screen:
On the back of the LCD screen (Old one) is the manufacturer code.
THIS is matched up to the replacement LCD screen, to know you are purchasing the correct replacement.

If the entity does NOT have this information available, move on to another entity.

2) Video Cable. (Also known as Display Panel Cable, Display Cable, etc)

Test it.
Use a multimeter set to Ohms, and perform a continuity test of each wire in the cable.
This way you can test to see if any wires are stretched, and/or broken.

If you do not own a multimeter, or do not have access to one, may I suggest purchasing an economical version?
Average cost is around $8 to $12, and available at a multitude of stores.
An auto parts store is but one example.

Need to know how to use it to perform this test? Simply state so in a Comment, after you purchase it.

Tips:
A) Although a video cable MAY look to be fully connected on the back of an LCD screen, all it takes is a very minute (My-Noot), loose connection, and you have your problem you stated.

Re-verify the video cable is completely and fully connected to the back of the LCD screen.
It would also be wise, of course, to recheck the motherboard side connection of the cable.

3) screen Inverter:
To test a screen Inverter requires a sensitive multimeter. Read, fairly expensive,

http://www.fonerbooks.com/test.htm

Without the proper equipment to test the screen Inverter, most consumers just replace it. (Low cost, and ease of accessibility to replace, is also a contributing factor)

What do I see just off the top, J?
The wrong LCD screen, and/or possible damage to the screen Inverter.

However it is up to you to Diagnose, and tell me.

Awaiting your reply.

Regards,
joecoolvette
