You would have to refer to the manual to set up the usb connection, so as the router knows that the main pc is connecting via the usb and not the rj45 port. The only other thing may be that your router will recognise when you are connecting with the usb port, as long as it's the pc with the modem drivers on.

How to make a net gear dgb111g into a dummy or bridge unit for wifi, using with bt home hub?? thank you

SETTING A ROUTER AS A REPEATER 1. Connect your computer to the repeater router's RJ45 port with a LAN cable. 2. Open a browser, then enter the router's URL configuration's IP address, This is usually something similar to 192.168.0.1 3. Enter the configuration user name and password. The router will display the various router settings. 4. Go to the page that changes the IP address of the router. Changed the IP address so that it is not the same as the main router on the network, or any other network devices. If the main router on the network is set to 192.168.1.1 then the repeater router should use a higher number (ie. 10), such as 192.168.1.10 or higher, depending on how many devices are on your network. 5. Disable the repeater router's DHCP server. This setting should be on the same page as the IP address, (this may be different depending on the make of the router). When the main router is operating normally, this server assigns an IP address to every device that is connected to your network. Because this router is used as a repeater, the main router on your network will still issue the IP addresses. 6. Also turn off the DNS server, if it is activated. This function will be taken over by the main router. 7. Disable any firewall settings on the repeater router. This is usually in the "Security" section, depending on the make and model of your router. 8. Remove all in the "Port Forwarding" section. Some routers may refer to this as "Applications and Gaming," and it allows less-restricted access to the internet. 9. Set the operating mode switch to "Gateway" or "Switch" if applicable. Also, if the repeater router is a wireless router then disable the wireless access or set it to access point only. 10. Save the settings for each page, and reboot the router. When the router boots up, the changes will allow it to act as a simple repeater. 11. Now, place the repeater router in a new location and connect both routers with a Ethernet cable in each of the router's RJ45 LAN ports, and power it up both routers.

Enable ICS on a windows Vista Home Premium Machine(Dell)

- Configuration on the machine that is connected to the internet.Firstly make sure that firewall on the machine is configured to allow ICMP and access to HTTP / HTTPS. Also make sure that the port 80 is opened on the firewall
To enable ICS perform the below steps - Identify the Dial-up connection that has to be shared - Right Click on the Dialup connection and go to properties, in the sharing tab enable ICS and choose the connection through which you would share the internet to your network.
- Configuration on the Client Machines
Connect the other computer to this one
You should be good to go now.
* I am assuming that you are not using a router or a hub, it is a direct connection.

How to configure 4 Lan + 1 Printer +internet connections

Hello,

If all your connections are wired, you can use one of the three following solutions.

1. Purchase a router with more then 4 LAN ports on it.
2. If the printer or any of the computers have a wireless network card, then purchase a wireless router and simply connect 4 LAN cables and 1 WLAN.
3. Purchase a hub. Connect 3 computers to the first 3 LAN ports on the router; connect the hub to the fourth LAN port and then connect the last computer and the printer to the hub. In essence both your computer and the printer will share the same IP address (the IP given to the hub) and they should work.

In any of these situations, connect the internet connection to the WAN port of your router.

Thanks,

Pat

Can I connect my HP PSC1510 to my BT Homehub v1?

yes, you can. I have my printer connect to my hub and my desktop and I can print from my laptop wirelessly.
You will need your all in one connected via a printer or USB cable to a computer AND also connected to your hub. Then, go to the computer that is connected through a cable to the all in one. Your all in one should have some way to configure its IP address. I have my printer configured as 192.168.1.4 and it's plugged into the 4th port of my hub. Check if this works.

Can i connect my f4180 printer to a router and access it wirelessly

Your printer uses a USB interface and can be connected to a wireless network using a print server simular to the Linksys WPSM54G.

I have also found on the web several wireless routers that incorporate a USB print server function, that is they have a USB port that connects to your printer and allows it to be shared on the network.

Be careful not all routers with USB ports are for printers, these newer routers have USB ports for adding network shared disk storeage boxes and do not support printers.

They all incorporate a user friendly WEB based configuration program to help you do this so don't think you need a degree in computer science.

2WIRE wireless router/DSL from AT&T

unless this is a wireless enabled or lan RJ45 connectable printer you cannot, the pc that the printer is connected to must be on at the time of the printing.

Wireless printers have their own arial and allocated ip address, Lan RJ45 connective printers can be connected to the router.

How do i connect my printer with a usb to a Ethernet (RJ45) cable

Hi Tony,

I assumed you'd like to share the printer on network. I recommend to buy a printer server device that will connect USB port of printer and that device has RJ45 port that can be connected to router or switch hub to share the purpose. Hope this gives you an idea.

Best regards,
Rosener
