Toshiba satellite c660-2el administrator cannot log on, user profile service failed to log on, user profile cannot be loaded

Your profile is probably corrupted. You will need to log in another account that has administrative permissions and rename the "administrator" profile to "administrator.old". After doing that, try logging in again to the administrator profile and copying all the data from the old profile to the new one that was created. If you still get the same error or if there are no other users that have administrative privileges, you will need to do a repair installation (Windows XP) to fix this. If you are using Windows Vista or higher, you will have to install over your existing installation to preserve your data, or do a clean install (format) and start new. This is actually a common problem, so don't blame yourself.

Fix Windows 7 Error ?Windows is Not Genuine? Error code 0×80070005

f63627f.png

Those users running genuine version of Windows 7 provided with their hardware platform reported that immediately after log on they were presented with following error message. “Windows is not genuine. Your computer might not be running a counterfeit copy of Windows. 0×80070005.”
Some other symptoms of associated with this issue are,
The computer desktop background is black, and you receive the following error message on the bottom right corner of the screen:
“This copy of Windows is not genuine”
You receive the following error message when you view the System Properties: (Control Panel / System and Security / System)
“You must activate today. Activate Windows now”
If you try to use slmgr.vbs /dlv to view the licensing status, you receive the following message:
Error: 0×80070005 Access denied: the requested action requires elevated privileges
Microsoft is fully aware of this issue and provided following explanation for the issue,
There is a lack of permissions in the registry key HKU\S-1-5-20. The Network Service account must have full control and read permissions over that registry key.
This situation may be the result of applying a Plug and Play Group Policy object (GPO).
To resolve this issue, you can either disable the policy setting (Method A), or edit the permissions to provide the Licensing Service the required permissions (Method B).
Method A: Disable the Plug and Play Policy

1. Determine the source of the policy . To do this, follow these steps:
a. On the client experiencing the Activation error, run the Resultant Set of Policy wizard by clicking Start, Run and entering rsop.msc as the command.
b. Visit the following location:
Computer Configuration / Policies / Windows Settings /Security Settings / System Services /
If the Plug and Play service is configured through a Group Policy setting, you see it here with settings other than Not Defined. Additionally, you can see which Group Policy is applying this setting.
2. Disable the Group Policy settings and force the Group Policy to be reapplied.
a. Edit the Group Policy that is identified in Step 1 and change the setting to “Not Defined.” Or, follow the section below to add the required permissions for the Network Service account.
b. Force the Group Policy setting to reapply: gpupdate /force (a restart of the client is sometimes required)
Method B: Edit the permissions of the Group Policy:

1. Open the Group Policy that is identified in Method A, Step 1 above, and open the corresponding Group Policy setting.
2. Click the Edit Security button, and then click the Advanced button.
3. In the Advanced Security Settings for Plug and Play window click Add and then add the SERVICE account. Then, click OK
4. Select the following permissions in the Allow section and then click OK:
Query template, Query status, Enumerate dependents, Interrogate, User-defined control, Read permissions
Note: The Previous rights are the minimum required permissions.
5. Run gpupdate /force after you apply the previous permissions to the Group Policy setting.
6. Verify that the appropriate permissions are applied with the following command:
sc sdshow plugplay
The following are the rights applied to the Plug and Play service in SDDL:
D:(A;;CCDCLCSWRPWPDTLOCRSDRCWDWO;;;SY)
(A;;CCDCLCSWRPWPDTLOCRSDRCWDWO;;;BA)
(A;;CCLCSWLOCRRC;;;IU)
(A;;CCLCSWLOCRRC;;;SU)
S:(AU;FA;CCDCLCSWRPWPDTLOCRSDRCWDWO;;;WD)
(A;;CC LC SW LO CR RC ;;;SU is an Access Control Entry (ACE) that allows the following rights to “SU” (SDDL_SERVICE – Service logon user)
A: Access Allowed
CC: Create Child
LC: List Children
SW: Self Write
LO: List Object
CR: Control Access
RC: Read Control
SU: Service Logon User
Note: If there are no GPO’s in place, then another activity may have changed the default registry permissions. To work around this issue, perform the following steps:
1. On the computer that is out of tolerance, start Registry Editor.
2. Right-click the registry key HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-20, and select Permissions…
3. If the NETWORK SERVICE is not present, click Add…
4. In Enter the object names to select type Network Service and then click Check Names and OK.
5. Select the NETWORK SERVICE and Grant Full Control and Read permissions.
6. Restart the computer.
7. After the restart, the system may require activation. Complete the activation.

Test your pen drive / USB sticks with H2testw

H2testw was developed to test USB sticks for various kinds of errors. It can also be used for any other storage media like memory cards, internal and external hard drives and even network volumes. The executable file H2testw.exe needs no installation and can be directly run. It was developed for Windows XP and Vista. It should also work under Windows 2000 but was only tested on XP and Vista. Windows 9x/ME is not supported. You can use the older command line program H2test under these operating systems. The function of H2testw is quite simple: It fills the chosen target directory with test data and then reads it back and verifies it. H2testw does not overwrite or erase any existing data. It doesn’t do any low-level tricks so administrator privileges are not required. If your hardware is working properly H2testw will not harm any existing data. You can download it from here

I have the same issue where ioloSystemService is required... on a 64bit Vista Home Premium system. Iolo Tech (NO) Support's solution is for me to pay them another $200 dollars so their Certified Microsoft Systems Engineer can look at my system (no guarantee it will work after he looks at it either) or take it to Best Buy, Geeksquad, or Staples and pay them $300 dollars to look at it. It's a shame because I have been using their product since the first beta version. I guess they have just gotten too big for their own good because they sure do not care about the customer.

How to configure samba server

Hi satveergaur

Follow these instruction to configure samba server

To configure Samba using a graphical interface, use the Samba Server Configuration Tool.

The Samba Server Configuration Tool is a graphical interface for managing Samba shares, users, and basic server settings. It modifies the configuration files in the /etc/samba/ directory. Any changes to these files not made using the application are preserved.

To use this application, you must be running the X Window System, have root privileges, and have the redhat-config-samba RPM package installed. To start the Samba Server Configuration Tool from the desktop, go to the Main Menu Button (on the Panel) => System Settings => Server Settings => Samba or type the command redhat-config-samba at a shell prompt (for example, in an XTerm or a GNOME terminal).

 Samba Server Configuration Tool

Note
The Samba Server Configuration Tool does not display shared printers or the default stanza that allows users to view their own home directories on the Samba server.

 Configuring Server Settings

The first step in configuring a Samba server is to configure the basic settings for the server and a few security options. After starting the application, select Preferences => Server Settings from the pulldown menu. The Basic tab is displayed as shown in Figure 24-2.

 Configuring Basic Server Settings

On the Basic tab, specify which workgroup the computer should be in as well as a brief description of the computer. They correspond to the workgroup and server string options in smb.conf.

 Configuring Security Server Settings

The Security tab contains the following options:

Authentication Mode — This corresponds to the security option. Select one of the following types of authentication.

ADS — The Samba server acts as a domain member in an Active Directory Domain (ADS) realm. For this option, Kerberos must be installed and configured on the server, and Samba must become a member of the ADS realm using the net utility, which is part of the samba-client package. Refer to the net man page for details. This option does not configure Samba to be an ADS Controller.

Domain — The Samba server relies on a Windows NT Primary or Backup Domain Controller to verify the user. The server passes the username and password to the Controller and waits for it to return. Specify the NetBIOS name of the Primary or Backup Domain Controller in the Authentication Server field.

The Encrypted Passwords option must be set to Yes if this is selected.

Server — The Samba server tries to verify the username and password combination by passing them to another Samba server. If it can not, the server tries to verify using the user authentication mode. Specify the NetBIOS name of the other Samba server in the Authentication Server field.

Share — Samba users do not have to enter a username and password combination on a per Samba server basis. They are not prompted for a username and password until they try to connect to a specific shared directory from a Samba server.

User — (Default) Samba users must provide a valid username and password on a per Samba server basis. Select this option if you want the Windows Username option to work. Refer to Section 24.2.1.2 Managing Samba Users for details.

Encrypt Passwords — This option must be enabled if the clients are connecting from a Windows 98, Windows NT 4.0 with Service Pack 3, or other more recent versions of Microsoft Windows. The passwords are transfered between the server and the client in an encrypted format instead of in as a plain-text word that can be intercepted. This corresponds to the encrypted passwords option. Refer to Section 24.2.3 Encrypted Passwords for more information about encrypted Samba passwords.

Guest Account — When users or guest users log into a Samba server, they must be mapped to a valid user on the server. Select one of the existing usernames on the system to be the guest Samba account. When guests logs in to the Samba server, they have the same privileges as this user. This corresponds to the guest account option.

After clicking OK, the changes are written to the configuration file and the daemon is restart; thus, the changes take effect immediately.

 Managing Samba Users

The Samba Server Configuration Tool requires that an existing user account be active on the system acting as the Samba server before a Samba user can be added. The Samba user is associated with the existing user account.

To add a Samba user, select Preferences => Samba Users from the pulldown menu, and click the Add User button. On the Create New Samba User window select a Unix Username from the list of existing users on the local system.

If the user has a different username on a Windows machine and will be logging into the Samba server from the Windows machine, specify that Windows username in the Windows Username field. The Authentication Mode on the Security tab of the Server Settings preferences must be set to User for this option to work.

Also configure a Samba Password for the Samba User and confirm the Samba Password by typing it again. Even if you select to use encrypted passwords for Samba, it is recommended that the Samba passwords for all users are different from their system passwords.

To edit an existing user, select the user from the list, and click Edit User. To delete an existing Samba user, select the user, and click the Delete User button. Deleting a Samba user does not delete the associated system user account.

The users are modified immediately after clicking the OK button.

Starting and Stopping the Server

On the server that is sharing directories via Samba, the smb service must be running.

View the status of the Samba daemon with the following command: /sbin/service smb status

Start the daemon with the following command: /sbin/service smb start

Stop the daemon with the following command: /sbin/service smb stop

To start the smb service at boot time, use the command: /sbin/chkconfig --level 345 smb on
