Music can only be added through iTunes. Open iTunes and click on the device icon. Drag music that is loaded in iTunes music library onto the device. If you haven't loaded music into iTunes, you have to do that first.
there are several ways you can download and put music on your iPhone 3G
1.-Purchase songs in iTunes directly on your iPhone (this will cost you money and require you to create an iTunes account,if you download apps, you already have one).
2.-Insert a CD into the computer you plug your iPhone to, open the CD with iTunes, and rip the contents of the disc into iTunes (iTunes has a tutorial for this if you need further information), sync your phone with your iTunes on the computer and the songs will be added to your song library in your phone.
3.-You can use a P2P (peer to peer) sharing program ex. Frostwire, Winamp, eMule, to download the songs onto your computer. Take note of what folder these downloaded songs are being sent to. In iTunes, select File>add folder to library, a window will open, select the file where the downloaded music is located, and iTunes will add it into the music library in iTunes. Sync your phone with iTunes and the downloaded songs will be added to the music library on your phone
Double-click on the "iTunes" icon to open the program and then transfer all of your music filesinto iTunes. To add music from CDs, simply load a CD into yourcomputer's drive, wait for iTunes to see the playlist and then click"Import." To add music from another program, go to the "File" menu andselect "Add to Library." You will then be able to click on any musicfiles you would like to transfer.
Plug your iPod into a USB port on your computer and wait for iTunes toautomatically recognize the device. You will be asked to name andregister your iPod, after which you can click "Finish" and begin toload music.
Click on "Library," found in the left hand column to reveal all of themusic you have transfered to iTunes. To load songs onto your iPod,highlight one or more songs and then drag them to your iPod. Your iPodwill be found in the same column where you found the library, under thename you chose earlier. As soon as you drop the files into your iPod,they will quickly copy.
Eject your iPod once you have loaded all of the music you'd like byclicking on the arrow next to your iPod's name. When the namedisappears, you can remove the USB cable and begin enjoying your portable music.
Here is where you can get ITUNES: http://www.apple.com/downloads/
Hi, iPods always say 'do not disconnect' when you connect it to the computer. That is what they are supposed to do. iTunes should open a short time after that. If i Tunes doesn 't open, then click on it to open it. You should see your iPod on the left side.
I suspect that you are not using iTunes to put music into your iPod. You cannot 'drag' music into your iPod. ITunes has to put it there.
You should have all of your music in your iTunes library that you want to put into your iPod. You have to use iTunes to put music into your iPod. Actually, this is the easiest way.
Once your music is in iTunes, plug your iPod into the computer. When your iPod appears in iTunes on the left side, click on the music tab and tell iTunes what music and play lists you want to put into your iPod.
Then click sync at the bottom. The iPod will go into sync mode until all of your music is loaded. Then it will say sync completed. You can then click the arrow next to your iPod to release it from iTunes.
When you want to release it from your computer, click on the little green icon at the bottom right of your computer screen. If you don't see it, click the white arrow. Click on the green plug icon and wait until you see safely isconnect mass storage device from the computer. Click on that and wait until you see, 'It is now safe to disconnect your mass storage device from the computer". Disconnect your iPod now.
The mp3 player's operating system is trying to load the songs which is not possible because most of the time itunes uses .aac format which is only compatible with ipods to fix plug into computer open device, and delete all the music files unplug and try turning on if sucessful plug back in ad load mp3's or wma's using windows media player
Sorry if I'm too obvious, but are you using iTunes?
Yes? Then check your iPod settings on iTunes: If you want to just drag songs to the iPod you have to set it to "manually manage music" on the iPod "Summary" screen.
Otherwise you need to create playlists in iTunes and synchronise your iPod to those playlists (tick them in the "Music" tab.
Of course, if you already knew all this, sorry! Maybe you have a usb port problem (try restarting computer) or an iPod problem (try resetting your iPod). NOTE: with iPods, you MUST use iTunes to transfer music to iPod, and it is NOT possible to transfer music FROM you ipod TO your computer (say you've loaded songs from someone elses computer to your iPod and you want to put them onto your computer - no can do! Use a flash drive).
newipoduser1 ... unfortunately your solution will not likely work.
It's not generally a good idea to email such large files (your typical song is about 3-5MB in size). It would be best to try and load your music files onto a USB flash drive and attempt the transfer to another computer that way. I realize your USB port is read-only (is this because it's a corp. owned machine?) but perhaps you can give it a try and see. Failing that, I would maybe try to "burn" the music files to a CD. BEWARE! Make sure you burn them in their mp4, AAC or mp3 format as files and not as music. (Same is true for USB transfer)
NOTE: if the machine you're using is a corporate machine I would recommend NOT downloading any more songs from iTunes to that machine. Besides corporate security policies, it's important to know that Apple allows you to "share" the AAC music files among 5 devices, this includes computers, iPods etc. Each machine you load those files to will be recognized by Apple when you sign into iTunes. If the machine in question is a friend's, have them grant read/write rights to the USB port and you won't need to go thru all the steps above. A simple sync of the iPod will do the trick!
Good luck and welcome to the wonderful world of iPods!
